Flying: The Regent Centre uses manual hemp, hand winch and motor hoist flying systems. Please consult the flying plan attached for the positions of each bar as well as the type of flying and safe working load allocations. Please be aware that the Regent Centre has a Safe Working Load of 1210kg uniformly distributed across the Grid. There is an allowance of 600kg for touring companies to hang on the grid together with the in house rigging. If you require anymore information contact the technical department. SAFETY All performance companies using The Regent Centre must ensure and demonstrate (if required) that they can use and operate the theatre s equipment in a safe and competent manner. All scenery, props, costumes etc. must conform to fire regulation standards where appropriate and that flame-retardants conform to BS3119/3120 BS476 parts 5,6 & 7 (class 1 & 0). All rigging using ladders must be conducted in a competent manner and in accordance with current health and safety guidelines. Under no circumstance must any fire exit or fire exit route be obstructed internally and externally. It must be the duty of the responsible person in charge of the company to make their colleagues aware of their nearest fire exit and muster point. ELECTRICAL SAFETY The Electricity At Work regulations 1989 (EAW), requires all portable electrical equipment to be regularly inspected and tested to check that it is safe for use at work. This means that it is now a legal requirement that all electrical equipment used in performances and used in the set construction on site is PAT tested (Portable Appliance Test). Any equipment brought in to The Regent Centre, that in the opinion of the Technical department, does not comply with current PAT - Electricity At Work regulation will not be deemed fit for use and must not be used until the fault or faults have been corrected and it has been re-tested to meet current legal requirements. Proof of test may be required. NOTE Under no circumstances must equipment or cables belonging to The Regent Centre be tampered with, adapted or have its connectors removed without prior permission or consultation with the Technical department. ALL trailing extensions and cables must be secured so as not to constitute a trip hazard. Please contact the Technical Manager with specific requests, for lighting & sound equipment, as we can not guarantee that all items on this list will be available for use all of the time.
