Customer Support We want you to enjoy using Cardas cables as much as we do. Our cables are hand terminated in our shop in Bandon, Oregon. They are inspected and tested before shipping. We want to insure you the highest level of musical performance. We take pride in our craftsmanship. Warning! Many counterfeit audio cables are now appearing in the marketplace. Most are sold as used cables over the internet. There are mimic Cardas cables, but we have seen counterfeits of other high end cable manufacturers. The first four photographs show a set of used, counterfeit Golden Reference Speaker cables a Cardas Distributor stopped one of his customers from purchasing. The extraordinary lengths to which this counterfeiter has gone, almost insures there are additional counterfeit Golden Reference Speaker cables being offered for sale. From external and internal comparisons between Cardas Golden Reference speaker cable and the counterfeit you can see the differences and similarities. All the counterfeit cables we have seen are of very poor quality and make no attempt to provide any sonic performance. These images show several counterfeit cables found on popular, audio web sites. When we find counterfeits, we request the site remove them, but its a big internet and we wont catch them all. If you intend to buy used Cardas cables, first check them against the images in the Product Section of our site. Look at the cables color, the markings, the connectors, the shrink tube, everything you can, to determine their authenticity. Check the rest of this Support section to see the changes we have made to our cable cosmetics and packaging over the years. If you have purchased cables and are not sure they are genuine Cardas, take them to your nearest Cardas Dealer or send them to us for Certification. External Cosmetics Even though the internal design and technology of our cables have evolved over the last twenty years, we tried to maintain a consistent external appearance. Since the jacket color of our current cable lines can be viewed under the product section of our site, this section is devoted to the different shrink tubing we have used in termination over the years. It also shows the latest black shrink, with gold lettering, we started using in 2005. With several of the better cables from the top manufacturers being counterfeited today, we strongly recommend you purchase your cables from an authorized Cardas dealer. If you are buying previously owned Cardas cables on the internet or some other source and they dont have a Certificate of Authenticity or the original packaging, you may ship the cables to us and we will certify they are genuine Cardas, terminated by Cardas Audio. We inspect the cables and repackage them with our permanent Certificate of Authenticity. If there is any cable damage or non Cardas terminations we will contact you with a cost estimate for repair or retermination, if you so desire. You will be required to pay return shipping, plus an inspection and handling fee of $25.00. Certification Since October, 2004, a Certificate of Authenticity is included on the back of all Cardas cable package inserts. It reads: IMPORTANT - Save this Certificate of Authenticity - If, in the future, you wish to upgrade, sell or trade your cables, this certificate assures the buyer these are genuine Cardas cables, terminated by Cardas Audio. Information concerning the authentication of any Cardas cable or termination may be found at Certification Service. Installation Cardas Golden Reference and Neutral Reference cables are non-directional. All other cables are directional. Use the arrows and text on the cables jacket to determine the direction of flow. The arrows point away from the source and the text reads out from the source. Both cables in a pair must have their arrows and text running in the same direction. We recommend Cardas Contact Conditioner to clean and improve the electrical contact surfaces. This is especially important before connecting any cable the first time.
