II. GRAMMAR REVIEW: Topic: Unreal Condition IF Clause + Were (5-6 minutes) General Description:IF Clause + Were is used to talk about impossible situations. Pattern: subject + would + main verb + if clause + were Examples: He would be promoted if he were friends with the boss. She would be famous if she were a good singer. Remember: The word if followed by I/ he/ she/ it/ uses the verb were regardless of the number and the person (first, second and third person) of the subject. Examples: If she were happy in her job, she wouldn't be looking for another one. If they were to enter our market, we'd have big problems. The form if I were you is often used to give advice If I were you, I'd look for a new place to live. If I were you, I'd go back to school and get more qualifications.
