The play will feature Mamie Gummer (The Good Wife, True Detective) as Cyn, Abigail Dylan Harrison (The Affair) as Carlin at 10, Caroline Heffernan as Carlin at 17, Tyee Tilghman as Saleef and Joe Tippett (Rise, Broadway s Waitress) as Jay. Tyne Rafaeli (Geffen s Ironbound, Actually) will direct. Previews for Our Very Own Carlin McCullough begin Tuesday, June 19 in the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater at the Geffen Playhouse with opening night set for Wednesday, June 27. The show closes Sunday, July 29. A single mother discovers that her ten-year-old daughter is a tennis phenom. When a young, dedicated coach takes Carlin under his wing, her meteoric rise takes shape and this threesome struggles over what is best when building up a champion. Our Very Own Carlin McCullough was commissioned as part of the Geffen Playhouse s New Play Development Program thanks to the generosity of Mary Bianco, The MOCA Foundation. Major support of the Geffen s world premiere production is provided by the Edgerton Foundation New Play Production Fund. Peet s first play, The Commons of Pensacola, ran Off-Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club in 2013 and starred Blythe Danner and Sarah Jessica Parker. Before that, she starred in the HBO series Togetherness, created by the Duplass Brothers, and Aaron Sorkin s Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. She appeared in the films Something s Gotta Give, The Whole Nine Yards, Syriana, Please Give and Igby Goes Down, among others. Theater credits include Break of Noon and This Is How It Goes, both by Neil LaBute, as well as the Broadway revival of Barefoot in the Park. Her play The Commons of Pensacola, which was produced by Manhattan Theatre Club, starred Blythe Danner and Sarah Jessica Parker. Tyne Rafaeli (Director) Tyne Rafaeli directs classics, new plays and musicals, including the recent world premiere of the Geffen Playhouse s production of Actually by Anna Ziegler. Her work has been seen at Classic Stage Company, Playwrights Realm, Atlantic Theater Company, Roundabout Theatre Company, Two River Theater, California Shakespeare Theatre, Williamstown Theatre Festival, New York Stage & Film, PlayMakers Repertory Company, Goodspeed Musicals, Juilliard, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, Great Lakes Theater, American Players Theatre, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, the O Neill Playwrights Conference and PlayPenn, among others. Rafaeli is a 2016-2018 Time Warner Directing Fellow at the Women s Project Theater and was awarded the 2013-2014 SDCF Sir John Gielgud Fellowship for Classical Direction. She has served as Associate Director on the Broadway productions of The King & I, Fiddler on the Roof, The Bridges of Madison County and Golden Boy and the West End s Women on the Verge; she directed the first U.S. national tour of The Bridges of Madison County.

Mamie Gummer (Cyn) Mamie Gummer is currently in production for season three of HBO s True Detective. Previously, she starred in the Amazon UK and BBC Worldwide eight-part series The Collection, was the lead of The CW series Emily Owens, M.D. and recurred on WGN s hit series Manhattan and CBS The Good Wife. Her film credits include Ricki and the Flash, End of the Tour and Cake. Gummer made her Off-Broadway debut in 2005 with the premiere of Mr. Marmalade, for which she won a Theatre World Award. Additional theater credits include Classic Stage Company s Uncle Vanya (Lucille Lortel nomination) and The School for Lies, Second Stage Theater s The Water s Edge (Lucille Lortel Nomination) and the Tony-Award nominated revival of Les Liasisons dangereuses. She recently received rave reviews for her performance of Jess in Roundabout Theatre Company s production of Ugly Lies the Bone. Abigail Dylan Harrison (Carlin at 10) Abigail Dylan Harrison is 12 years old and is thrilled to be returning to the stage this summer in Our Very Own Carlin McCullough. She began her career at age 10, when she starred as Tina Denmark in the Off-Broadway production of Ruthless, the Musical! She was honored to take part in the opening act at the 2016 Tony Awards. This past winter, she originated the role of Louise in A Christmas Story Live on FOX and has also guest-starred on Disney Channel s hit series Bunk d. Harrison can currently be seen as Stacey Solloway on Showtime s Golden Globewinning drama The Affair. Caroline Heffernan (Carlin at 17) Caroline Heffernan hails from Chicago and is making her Geffen Playhouse debut. Her credits include leading roles in world premieres by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwrights Tracy Letts and David Rabe, Young Mary Page in Mary Page Marlowe and Frannie in Good for Otto. Other roles include Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird (Steppenwolf Theatre Company), Annie in Annie (Paramount Theatre), Young Kim (Chicago Lyric Opera), and roles in the regional Tony Award-winning theaters Lookingglass Theatre Company, Goodman Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theater and Writers Theatre. Her television and film credits include Teen Jesse in Lifetime Movie Channel s My Daughter Was Stolen, Ariel Green in NBC s Chicago Med and Ella in NBC s Chicago Fire. Heffernan is an award-winning USAG gymnast, a Commended National Merit Scholar and a high school varsity cheerleader. Tyee Tilghman (Saleef) Tyee Tilghman is an actor, writer and storyteller making his Geffen Playhouse debut in Our Very Own Carlin McCullough. Television and film credits include Criminal Minds and The Young and The Restless, I m Dying Up Here, A Trumped Birthday (short) and Mr. Malevolent. Regional credits include Skeleton Crew (Studio Theatre), Public Enemy: Flint, a community engagement piece with M.A.D.E. Institute, Gem of the Ocean and Fences (Marin Theatre Company), Spunk!, American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose, Lady Windermere s Fan and A Winter s Tale (California Shakespeare Theater), A Raisin in the Sun (Denver Center for the Performing Arts), Three Sisters (Chautauqua Theater Company), Romeo and Juliet (Folger Shakespeare Library) and An American Daughter (Arena Stage). Joe Tippett (Jay) Joe Tippett can currently be seen as Coach Sam Strickland on NBC s new hit show Rise. On Broadway, he appeared as Earl in the hit musical Waitress, which he originated at American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, and starred in the Steppenwolf Theatre Company s commission of Lisa D Amour s Airline Highway for Manhattan Theatre Club. Off-Broadway, he starred in Erica Schmidt s All the Fine Boys for The New Group, the world premiere of Nicky Silver s This Day Forward at Vineyard Theatre, and Indian Summer and Familiar at Playwrights Horizons. Other New York theater credits include Ashville, Seven Minutes in Heaven, Happy Birthday and A Thick Description of Harry Smith. Regional productions include Bull Durham: The Musical, The May Queen, Picnic, Three Sisters, The Corn is Green, Peter and the Starcatcher and Equus.
