DENNIS ALEXANDER PIANIST, COMPOSER, TEACHER WORKSHOP FOR PIANISTS Saturday, October 18, 2008 Fine Arts Recital Hall Topics Artistry at the Piano Anatomy of a Piano Piece Teaching Adults New Music for Students Dennis Alexander retired from his position at the University of Montana in 1996 where he taught piano and piano pedagogy for 24 years. He recently returned from a tour of Australia and has toured twice to the far East where he performed recitals and workshops in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Indonesia. In addition to his many solo and ensemble pieces published, Professor Alexander is a coauthor of the exciting and innovative new piano method recently released entitled "Alfred's Premier Piano Course." Amro Music Store of Memphis and Alfred Music Publishers will have an exhibit of piano music available for purchase by attendees. The workshop is sponsored by the University of Tennessee at Martin and the Martin Area Music Teachers Association with assistance from Alfred Publishing Company and Amro Music of Memphis.

Ms. Anderson will bring a harpsichord, clavichord, and fortepiano for the workshop. Sunday Afternoon Concert November 12, 2006 3:00 p.m. *Trinity Presbyterian Church, Martin, TN Ms. Anderson's program will include works by familiar composers such as Bach, Mozart, Ravel, Liszt, and will include stories about the instruments she is playing as well as the composers and their music. Her performance for UT Martin is the exclusive Tennessee engagement on her nation-wide tour this fall. She brings on her tour some of the ancestors of the modern piano, such as the clavichord, the harpsichord, and the fortepiano. The first half of the program will showcase these earlier instruments; the second half will be devoted to the modern grand piano. There is no admission charge.
