UNESP'S LIBRARY GUARATINGUETÁ CAMPUS REGULATION OF THE LIBRARY'S TECHNICAL SERVICE AND DOCUMENTATION THE ORGANIZATIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE The documentation and library technical service (STBD) is composed by a board of directors and two sections: Acquisition and Information Treatment Technical Section (STATI); Documentation, User Service and Reference Technical Section (STRAUD). It's linked administratively to the unit's direction and technically to the General Coordination of Libraries (BGC), integrating the Unesp's Library Network. MISSION To provide information, support the teaching, research and community benefits, contributing to improve the quality of citizens life. COLLECTION The collection has free access and consists of: Books; Monographs, Thesis and Dissertations; Monographs of Course Conclusion (TCCs); Periodicals (Magazines and Newspapers) Events; DVDs; Videotapes and CDs; Online database; E-books; Technical Standards. The consulted works should be left on desks or carried over to the counter for statistical use and should not be put back on the shelves by the users. BIOMETRIC REGISTRATION The user will be registered on the ALEPH system (after filling in the online form and answering to the QUIZ). AFTER 48 HOURS he will be able to perform the biometric registration (fingerprint identification) and personal password registration. The fingerprint identification is valid throughout the Unesp s Library Network due to its management system. The management standards of each Library should be respected to make loans and returns.
WHO CAN APPLY Undergraduate students; Graduate students; Post graduated students; Students of the Industrial Technical College (CTI); Teachers/Professors; Researchers; Employees; Unati members; FATEC students The user will have his registration canceled at the Library by leaving the condition of regular or special student at the university campus or when canceled by the Faculty's Director or by the Industrial Technical College's Director. DOCUMENTS FOR EFFECTING THE DIGITAL IDENTIFICATION Present CPF and ID with photo to register the fingerprint.

On Fridays or before holidays, the user can withdraw up to 03 (three) sample books, from 9:00pm. The devolution will be up to 10 am of the first following working day, except for students attending night courses, whose devolution will be up to 7 pm.
The sample book cannot be loaned for a recess week or during a vacation period. REFERENCE WORKS Reference works, such as dictionaries, maps, atlas, and encyclopedias are only for local query and therefore cannot be loaned for the same period of a book. They can be removed from the Library only during the period of exams. RENEWALS There is no limit for renewal, unless: The material has reservation(s) from another user(s); The user has overdue materials; The user has already the maximum days of borrows; The user's registration has expired. The user has any debit at the library. The online renewal must be done through the P@rthenon base: http://www.parthenon.biblioteca.unesp.br/ and the time limit is given by the end of the loan. The standard loans may be renewed until 9:45pm. It's important to remember that reserved books cannot be renewed.
PS: Check the new devolution date. The user will NOT be free of fine when he doesn't receive an e-mail about the devolution. RESERVATIONS Reservations must be made online on the P@rthenon base. To make a reservation, it is required that all copies of the work are loaned, except for the sample book. Books available on the shelves cannot be reserved. The reservation will follow a chronological order; The user will receive an e-mail message announcing the availability of the ordered item. The ordered item will be available at the loan counter for one working day. After that time, the reservation will be lost. DELAYS, FINES AND WARNINGS It will be charged a fine of 20% of a UFESP (Fiscal Unit of the State of São Paulo). For charging purposes, it will be considered the opening hours of the library. The fine will be per day and per material. The fine will be per day in the delay of the locker key. Each user is responsible for borrowed material and, in the event of misuse or loss, all material must be returned with the same features of the original. The user should replace stolen publications, even with police notification report, by identical copies or current editions.
OTHER SERVICES Online research at http://www.parthenon.biblioteca.unesp.br Online database: Access guidelines, search and retrieval of scientific papers on the online database subscribed by UNESP. The research room is a space reserved for this purpose. The online database can also be accessed from any computer inside the campus or outside UNESP, through VPN (virtual private network, or VPN) by following the instructions link http://www.unesp.br/vpn/. The users allowed to access the database through VPN are: teachers/professors, undergraduate students, graduate students (regular and special) and technical administrative staff. UNESP Wi-Fi (WFU): wireless Internet access inside the campus. The user has to make the necessary settings on his equipment and use the login and password authentication. It can be used through the: a) Academic System for undergraduate students; b) UNESP Portal System for graduate students; c) Online HR System for employees and professors. Research Room: There is a separated room for Internet access with 10 computers for scientific research purposes.
Interlibrary Loan (EEB): allows you to make a request using the Library network (UNESP, USP and Unicamp), since the work does not exist in our collection. Limit of five books per loan. Comut: copy request of periodical articles, thesis, dissertations and parts of technical scientific documents, observing the copyright law. Netbook: available for registered users only. Each user can borrow one netbook for a period of five hours with renewal carried out at the counter. Netbooks are for exclusive use inside the Library. LOOKING FOR A BOOK The material search at the Library consists of two steps: the online search and search on the bookshelf. To assist you in this process, read the following guide. 1) Online system search Search for the book on the P@rthenon base, write down the location number (call number) and then follow the steps below: When you open the P@rthenon base, click on Busca por Biblioteca (Search for Library)

Click on Kind of material (Tipo de material) Click on locais (Places) Then click the + botton Verify whether the book is available, otherwise make a reservation.
This is the number on the shelf that should be written down. 2) Search on the Bookshelf Go to the bookshelf and search for the rank number (representing the subject), arranged in ascending numerical order. After finding the number, look for the 1st letter of the author's last name in alphabetical order and then the author's number in ascending numerical order. Lockers It is not allowed to enter the library with backpacks, handbags, briefcases, books and food, which should be put in the lockers, whose keys are loaned to users for a period of five hours, which can be renewed. In case of loss, it will be charged the spare key. ATTENTION! The STBD will not be responsible for any loss of objects or materials that may happen in bins or inside the Library. STUDY AND READING SPACES The user must respect the common space and the materials of the Library and obey to the following rules: Keep silence; No audio equipment; No food and drinks inside the Library; No running in the corridors; No smoking; No writing on books and desks; No throwing trash on the floor.
