Lynda Godfrey: childhood papers, 1959 1976 Introduction and summary description Creator: Reference: Extent: Lynda Yates MOC/GODF 18 files Context Lynda Godfrey was born in March 1954, and throughout her childhood lived in Ramsgate, Kent. Her mother was a teacher at a local girls secondary school. Lynda attended Ellington Infants School from 1959, and then St Laurence s Girls School from 1962. At the age of 11, Lynda went to Clarendon House Grammar School for Girls. She stayed there until 1972, gaining 10 O levels and two A levels, and an ambition to work with animals and the environment. She also went on the Kent Educational Cruise in her penultimate year at school. Lynda gained a place at Derby College of Art and Technology to study a degree in Chemistry, and while there she also completed an English A level at evening classes and enrolled on a Film Studies Course. From 1960 1977 Lynda had various part time jobs as a shop assistant in a supermarket, grocers, florist and games shop, and as a waitress and a laboratory and veterinary assistant. Lynda went on to a career as a computer analyst and programmer in the City of London, and later moved to Australia. Scope and content Contains Infant school work produced at Ellington Infants School (1959 1961); Junior school exercise books and artwork from St Lawrence s Girls School (1963 1965); Grammar school work, mostly in exercise books, plus O level and A level workbooks and exam material from Clarendon House Grammar School for Girls (1965 1972); and college and university notebooks and worksheets, for BSc Chemistry at Derby College of Art and Technology (1972 1975) and MSc Environmental Resources at University of Salford (1975 1976).
