SECTION 1: HOW THE CO-CURRICULAR MUSIC PROGRAM OPERATES 1.1 Enrolling for private instrumental music lessons Students may enrol for instrumental music lessons by submitting the application form on the Hillbrook Website. Details are on the last page of this information booklet. Fees will be charged to your Hillbrook account. (Lessons will automatically be rolled over to the next term/year, no need to reapply) 1.2 Lessons Instrumental music lessons are half hour lessons once a week, scheduled on a rotating basis. For lesson schedules, students need to login into online @ Hillbrook - resources instrumental lessons or check the music notice board regularly. http://online.hillbrook.qld.edu.au Some permanent lesson times may be available outside of class time; however, preference for these time slots will be given to senior students. There may be occasions when the fixed lesson time is unavailable. In these situations, an alternative time will be given and students will be required to attend this lesson time instead. Instrumental music students are expected to take responsibility for their own learning. Students need to ensure they are punctual and attend all scheduled lessons. 1.3 Missed Lessons Instrumental teachers at Hillbrook are professionals in their field and teaching at Hillbrook encompasses part of their livelihood. Insufficient notification of a lesson missed will mean the lesson is charged to the parent and there is no obligation on behalf of the teacher to reschedule the lesson. In the event that the teacher is absent, an alternative lesson time will be scheduled. If this is not possible, a credit will be issued. Students are required to give at least 24hrs notice to the music department of any event eg. Camps, excursions or exams that may prevent them attending a scheduled lesson. If absent from school due to illness please contact Hillbrook Music directly by email or by phoning 3354 6460 and leave a voice message, no later than 7.30am. In this case, the lesson will be rescheduled or credited if rescheduling is not possible. If a student s lesson falls on a public holiday an alternative lesson time will be scheduled or a credit issued. 1.4 Cancellation of Enrolment Students are expected to maintain their commitment to learning an instrument for a full term. Withdrawal from the Instrumental Music Program requires written notification by email or signed letter from parent/carer with two weeks notice.
