Gate The founder Greetings We have been taking part in the research, development and manufacture of a series of phosphors for more than a half of century. In our beginning, lighting was our basic interest. We have continued our research, development and manufacture of phosphors based on our original text that: lighting creates a peaceful society. Through trial and error in our research and development, we have continued to strive day after day with our motto: Pride of technique and quality to the world. This is the basis of our management principles. Until now, we have successfully offered a series of products with applications for lighting equipment, neon-signs, image displays, paintings and the like. For this work we have received a high level of appreciation from our customers. In recent years we have begun to offer new applications beyond lighting and these have also been widely received. We appreciate the support and praise we have received from our customers. Techniques in the world are evolving and expanding every day. We intend to continue our objective: to further improve our technique and our quality. We understand we must render services for the future if we are going to help our customers change with the times. It is our commitment to develop and provide products for the future.

What is Phosphor? Phosphor while unfamiliar to many, is an important chemical substance that is in electrical appliances that are used every day. Phosphors are used in fluorescent lamps, television and other appliances. This chemical substance receives energy from the outside and transforms that energy into a variety of colors. In the case of a fluorescent lamp, Phosphor is coated inside the glass tube. When electricity is applied to the electrodes at both ends of the tube, thermo-electrons collide against the gaseous mercury in the tube that results in the discharge of ultraviolet rays. The ultraviolet rays hit on the phosphor which converts it into visible light (luminescence). The phosphor changes the ultraviolet rays that are not visible into visible light. What happens in the phosphor? Phosphor contains a very small quantity of impurity that is like a source that emits light (this is said to be an activator). After receiving energy of ultra-violet rays from the outside, electrons in the atom of the impurity are pushed up into a larger orbit in the outside as if they jump from the original orbit by absorbing energy. But the electrons always try to return to their original orbit. The difference between the energies in the outside and the original orbit makes photons emit. At this time light is generated. By modifying both host substances composed of phosphor and different species of impurities, various lights (visible lights) can be generated. Excitation state by energy from outside Emitting light when returning back to the ground state Energy Light Electron Ground State Atomic Nucleus Excitation State Image of light emission

Patented Process Creates Spherical Phosphors! We have developed spherical phosphors. By changing the particular size of alumina as a raw material, a series of spherical phosphors can be developed. (Patent granted) Conventional aluminate phosphor Spherical aluminate phosphor Scanning Electron Microscope

Our company name is Tokyo Kagaku Kenkyusho or Tokyo Kagaku Laboratory in English. BET Surface Area Analyzer Laser Micron Sizer Spectrometer In Japan, the history of phosphor research and manufacturing is only a half-century-old. We think there are still many unknowns to investigate. That is why we have a greater number of employees taking part in research and analytical measurements in our company. In addition to a variety of analytical instruments for investigation and product inspection, we also have particle size distribution measurement equipment, spectrophotometer and an electron microscope, which can observe particle shapes. We are able to analyze individual particles. True Denser VUV Spectrometer We are committed to assist our customers in their investigations and research.
