Since some groups utilize their own sound tech, not all shows are booked with a house engineer. Verify tech responsibility with booking agent to determine Sound system consists of 2400w power through the mains and 3600w for low frequency extension. A digital board provides 16 input channels, 4 mono and 2 stereo monitor mixes (1 on stage, 1 at board), an ambient mix (utilizing the Bose jukebox speakers), as well as the main mix. Everything can be controlled from the stage via ipad, though a dedicated sound tech is always recommended to maximize the impact of your music. Board can provide a multitrack or stereo recording of the event. Lights include 8 LED par washes, 25 moving mirror luminaries, a lazer/strobe, and a haze machine. Lights are controlled via ipad and may be operated by the sound tech, or from stage, or by someone in the audience who is familiar with your music.

STAGE Blue square indicates removable panel for mic stands and mics, after panel is removed subs (orange boxes above) may be slid forward to remove monitor speakers from storage. Green square indicates trapdoor for snake access. Red stars indicate outlets.

USAGE Four items are stored beneath the stage and may be reached by removing the access panel on the front of the stage. After the panel is removed, (red arrow in photo on left, and blue box on previous page)the center subs (orange boxes on previous page, photo on right) may be pulled out to access the 4 monitors. Also in this center section is a box of microphones, headphones, and direct boxes; and the box containing mic stands and cables. OFTEN, THE BAR STAFF REMOVES THESE EARLIER IN THE DAY SO PATRONS SITTING AT THE TABLE IN FRONT CENTER OF THE STAGE DO NOT HAVE TO BE DISTURBED. If this is the case, these items will be found either at the mixer cabinet or stacked up stage right. Snake box is stored in the trapdoor upstage center, (red arrow on left photo below, and green box on previous page) stake box may be removed from compartment and cords carefully run through the foldback panel. System control is located approx. 20 feet from stage right lip. System control cabinet front is removed by sliding upward. Lower panel is removed by sliding out. Cabinet may optionally be removed from wall and placed on table by first opening top of cabinet and extending the snake/powercord. Table should be placed against the wall, just in front of the cabinet. Looking at the cabinet, on the lefthand side, about a foot down is a pin that locks the cabinet to the wall. (red arrow in photo on left points to pin). Remove pin. Lift cabinet directly up about an inch and then pull away from wall and set on table. If unfamiliar with the process, please consult bar staff. When returning the mixer to the wall at the end of the night, take note of where the pin connects the cabinet and the wall cleats. Use this to line up, and refit the cabinet to the wall. THE PIN MUST BE FULLY INSTALLED TO LOCK CABINET TO WALL.

Turn on system by the switch on the power conditioner. (red arrow in photo on left) Switch faces down when mixer is on the wall. When mixer turns on, make sure LR volume is all the way down. After system has started, the venue s ipad as well as any other ipads may be connected to the system WiFi network: OTP SnL password: livemusic Open up Luminair (lighting app) and hit the button in the upper right marked BO (blackout). After this button is red, tell the bar you are ready to turn on the rest of the system (lights and amps). The instructions are provided here in case of emergency, italicized text is to be performed by venue. In the back kitchen prep area, in left electrical panel (left photo), in the top section verify that two sets of breakers (blue arrows) are on (pushed in towards center of panel ). Turn on moving lights by moving set of breakers (red arrow right photo) towards center. In the liquor storage room, turn on the amplifiers (red arrows on left photo) and verify that the speakers are not muted (unit above amplifier shown by blue arrow - has 6 small buttons on lower right - they turn red when muted - we do NOT want red lights!!) Although it should not be done now, when band is ready house lighting should be shut off in the manager s office with the two dimmers shown with the red arrows. To turn back on, these must be brought above the line shown on the dimmers.

Alright, after venue staff has turned on the backstage equipment, system should be just about ready to go just let the staff know when you need the house music turned off. When finished, blackout the lights (BO button) and LET THE BARTENDER KNOW YOUR SET IS COMPLETE TO REVERSE THIS PROCESS. This way the staff won t have to guess if you will be playing four encores and the system won t be shut down prematurely. This will also give you house lighting so you can tear down, and will ensure that the amplifiers are the first thing turned off so that the speakers are not damaged. During setup of the sound system, if you have played here previously, you may reload that scene (please take a copy with you when you leave) or choose a blank scene from the board (these are higher numbered scenes 30 or above that simply say Scene and a number). These will have a base EQ for the monitors set and reverbs set on FX1 and FX2. After you load a scene, please save it with your band name - please DO NOT overwrite other band s scenes. User manual for the Allen & Heath QU-16 soundboard is available for download from the Allen & Heath website. Although it is fairly straight forward, if you have not used this board it is strongly recommended that you review the manual before the show. Manuals for all components of the system (as well as this document) are accessible via the ipad though the Adobe Reader app. The ipad can control the sound through the Qu-Pad app, select device Qu-16. (if ipad cannot find mixer, verify that it is on the proper WiFi network (OTP SnL) by going to the Settings app and clicking Wi-Fi. The ipad is required to control the lights through the Luminair app. During soundcheck, note that the Blue mics require phantom power - touch button on screen for 2 seconds to turn on. Lighting scenes are simply selected by photo. Rather failproof, as long as on the proper WiFi network.
