PIM PAM A STATE SECONDARY COLLEGE PERFORMING ARTS The Junior Secondary Aspiring Performers Program (APP) is designed to challenge, develop and extend the creative potential of Performing Arts students through close mentoring, practise and specialised training conducted by our experienced and knowledgeable staff. All Aspiring Performers Program (APP) students are provided with avenues to broaden both their technical and creative abilities by working in collaboration with other like-minded students, teachers and industry professionals. In addition to their weekly lessons, in their chosen stream (Dance, Drama or Music) Aspiring Performers Program (APP) students creative, technical and performance skills are further challenged and extended in our REACH Program. Over two full day intensive workshops students create, develop and perfect a performance to showcase their development within the program. In order to maximise your child?s potential, our teachers will establish and nurture a culture of high expectations and quality of work stressing the importance of discipline, practice, persistence and self-evaluation. REBECCA COSTELLO - HOD Perf orming Art s PIM PAM A STATE SECONDARY COLLEGE PERFORMING ARTS STAFF Rebecca is very passionate about the Performing Arts having immersed herself in all three art forms from a very young age. Since starting dance classes at the age of 3 and violin at the age of 6 Rebecca knew she wanted to have a career in the arts. Rebecca has learnt and holds private teaching qualifications in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary and Highland - Scottish dance enabling her to mentor numerous students of varying ages and abilities through their private dance examinations. Rebecca has taught at several private dance studios in Brisbane students of all ages for great successes in their CSTD Jazz and Tap examinations, as well as various winning eisteddfod routines. Throughout high school she honed her skills on the violin, percussion and her voice, as well as participated in numerous award-winning bands and choirs at MacGregor State High School. It was during this time that Rebecca realised she wanted to teach dance and music and pass on the knowledge she had learnt and provide the amazing opportunities she was given as a student. With her passion for the Performing Arts came her love of Musical Theatre. Rebecca has performed, choreographed, costumed and musically directed various musicals both at an amateur and high school level. At Kelvin Grove State College alone she was the choreographer, choral director and was involved in costume and set production for Grease, Back to the 80?s and The Wizard of Oz. Also while at Kelvin Grove Rebecca had the privilege of teaching dance to students enrolled in the Queensland Dance School of Excellence in Years 8 to 12 and ballet to Year 4 and 5 students. At the College Rebecca loves imparting her knowledge of the arts to her students in class and in extra-curricular groups. Rebecca believes in encouraging and fostering every student?s artistic?voice?. Rebecca?s vision for the department is Excellence through: Dedication, Enrichment, Inspiration, Exceptional opportunities, Innovation & Artistry. CINDY AMBRIDGE - Dance Teacher Cindy trained in C.S.T.D Jazz, C.S.T.D Tap, Acrobatics and RAD Ballet at the Sue Harvey Academy of Modern Stage Dancing and then later at the Kim Bowkett Dance Centre (now Theatre and Dance). In 2006 Cindy graduated with First Class Honours from the Queensland University of Queensland with a double degree: Bachelor of Creative Industries (Dance) and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary). She also holds a Bachelor of Behaviour Science (Psychology Major). Cindy has worked for 10 years for Education Queensland as a high school dance teacher and is a member of the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority Dance panel. Most recently Cindy was a Senior Project Writer for Queensland Government?s Curriculum into the Classroom where she created dance resources aligned with the new Australian Curriculum for dance teachers all over Queensland. Prior to venturing into the teaching, Cindy travelled the world dancing professionally for 15 years gaining experience in stage shows, corporate events, dance captain roles and choreography. Some of her credits include: Warner Bros. Movie World, Sixties Mania Las Vegas, Batman Begins Singapore, Dora the Explora Philippines, Dance Encore Productions Japan and the Tivoli Theatre Brisbane. She has also choreographed for Creative Generation State Schools on Stage. In 2016, Cindy travelled to Melbourne to complete the level one teacher training for the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet (ACB). In conjunction with this, Cindy has also completed the Level One teacher training through Perfect Form Physio which focuses on safe dance practice. She is excited to be bringing ACB syllabus to the Aspiring Performers Program at Pimpama.
TARA GOLDHARDT- Drama Teacher PIM PAM A STATE SECONDARY COLLEGE PERFORMING ARTS STAFF Tara Goldhardt started speech and drama at a very young age, a passion that she continued through primary school. It was not until high school that Tara decided that Drama would be her career. Tara graduated from the University of Southern Queensland with a double Bachelor of Drama and Senior Education. During University, she took on many performing arts positions throughout Toowoomba and the Darling Downs including chairing a Queensland Theatre Company Youth Theatre Company Project and freelance playwriting for numerous performance arts groups. After graduating, she took up a position teaching rurally and completed her first 6 years of teaching working in Biloela in Central Queensland. During this time, she directed and designed school musicals and developed activities for members of the wider community. During this time, she also continued extensive actor training, working with physical theatre company Zen Zen Zo to develop her passion for movement based theatre. Opportunities to perform have always been important to Tara, and in the last few years, she has branched out into musical theatre, starring in Biloela town productions of Chicago and The Sound of Music. At PSSC, Tara teaches Drama across all year levels, including the Aspiring Performers Program. Tara also loves the many opportunities for extension that the college offers, facilitating the REACH and Connections program for drama as well as co-directing the College?s highly successful Theatre Company group. ALYCIA SHANNON - Music Teacher Alycia has always had an interest in the performing arts, however, her love for music developed in primary school. Starting in year 4, Alycia started on the flute and by the time she got to year 10, she was learning Saxophone, Violin and Voice. She participated in school ensembles from the school Orchestra, Concert band, Jazz Ensemble and various Vocal ensembles to being in Community Ensembles and Theatre productions. Throughout her senior years, Alycia focused on Flute and Saxophone completing Grade 7 Alycia graduated from Griffith University with a Bachelor of Education in Music and English in 2008. From here, she went to teach in Caboolture, Rockhampton and finally Middlemount where she taught Primary Music and Instrumental music. Alycia was heavily involved in the Central Highlands Music community, helping organise the Central Highlands Eisteddfod as well as working closely with other Arts teachers in the area. At Pimpama State Secondary College Alycia teaches music, including the Aspiring Performers Program and Music Extension to year 12 students, as well as directors the College Glee Club.

Students also gain an understanding of anatomy including the latest research on mobility and the importance of fascia in safely achieving increased flexibility. PERFORMING ARTS STATEMENT OF EXPECTATIONS The Performing Arts Department strives to provide a safe, uplifting environment within which artists can explore, be risk-takers, create and build relationships; where they are valued for who they are and not what they do: where they can find their creative voice, see it flourish and celebrate it with others. We will create an environment where they grow by helping others grow. To foster this environment, we believe that it is important that students make a commitment and active contribution to the program. Listed below are the high expectations the Performing Arts Department have of your commitment and contributions to being involved within the program. Students within the Aspiring Performers Program (APP) are highly motivated to engage deeply with the curriculum and strive towards academic excellence. It is important that the standard of classroom behaviour enables all students to experience the level of success they are aiming for. The Aspiring Performers Program (APP) will challenge students to explore subject matter in greater depth. There will be higher expectations on homework and assessment than the mainstream classes. Students will be expected to regularly complete homework and assessment. Students who do not demonstrate a suitable work ethic may be asked to leave the Aspiring Performers Program. Students must maintain minimum B standard overall for the Aspiring Performers Program. Students must maintain a minimum B standard for Effort and Behaviour in the Aspiring Performers Program Students must maintain a high standard of Effort and Behaviour across all subjects. Student must actively participate in the Performing Arts REACH Program. It is recommended they participate in the department s extra-curricular programs. Behaviour that disrupts the learning of other students will not be tolerated. A student will be placed on a monitoring card if the expectations above are not being fulfilled. Students failing to meet the expectations may be asked to leave the Program. This will be at the discretion of the Head of Performing Arts and Principal.
