CIE 1931 The CIE color space, developed i 1931, is still used to defie colors, ad as a referece for other color spaces. The figure is a two-dimesioal display of colors of the same itesity (brightess), which is based o observatios of color measuremets by people. SPECTRUM Isaac Newto used the Lati word spectrum to defie the color series which arose whe he dropped a budle of sulight through a glass prism. The color spectrum cosists of the colors of the raibow with the color sequece red-orage-yellow-gree-blue-idigo-violet, which correspods to bearish wave legth (icreasig frequecy) of the light waves. C78 377 ANSI C 78.377 is ow the stadard for color quality, as determied by the America Natioal Stadards Istitute. ANSI recommeds lamp maufacturers to stay withi a 4-step ellipse. This meas that maufacturers with a particular focus o the CIE diagram have a broad rage of observable differeces.
