For a long time, theatre lighting control meant preprogrammed sequences of conventional lights, and concert lighting control meant moving lights and improvisation. DMX was used for transmitting data to the equipment, with no feedback to the operator. Things change. Theatre, studio and concert lighting have many programming features in common. Moving lights are all over the stage. Lighting operators are now controlling video animation systems and matrix screens. And just as DMX becomes standard, we get Ethernet, RDM and ACN. Where does this leave us? It s time to put it all together. We don't want to lose the simplicity of the early systems the basic functions for everyday work with conventional lights. Theatre work. Focusing, balancing, remote controlling. Programming and editing on the fly. Essential networking and tracking backup. Direct access to any channel at any time live or blind. We want the full functionality of a dedicated moving light console incorporated into a theatrical console, and we want it simple. We want to manage hundreds of moving lights if necessary, without getting lost in touchscreens, mouse operations and computer menus. We want compatibility with any standard lighting protocol today and tomorrow. We want a lighting control system that can handle the future without forgetting the past. So we ve put it all together in Congo, the Avab board by ETC.
spirit of innovation Avab products are known for a spirit of innovation that began over 30 years ago in Europe. ETC has been designing revolutionary lighting systems in the US during the same period. The two forces are now combined at ETC. Avab by ETC is a new brand that encompasses the heritage and ingenuity of Avab designed, manufactured and serviced in the ETC style. Our spirit of creativity is as strong as ever, ensuring you many more great solutions from mouse-free navigation to remote control via a wireless phone and an electronic manual with user profiles. making programming simple Knowing that the fastest way to program is with direct access to commands, we designed Congo with a unique programming pad that eliminates the need for a mouse. Powerful Dynamic Effects are easily applied, modified, recorded and recalled. Quick navigation of the graphical display environment, dedicated Direct Select keys in addition to the multi-purpose Masters and consistent use of the command keypad all fit into the Avab core philosophy of simple, short commands. solving the important stuff As much as we enjoy exploring the boundaries of technology, we are dead serious about day to day functionality. Features that make sense to every operator. A comprehensive moving light library with editable templates. Physical buttons and faders instead of touchscreens, keeping you focused on what s important what s on stage. Allowing you to move independent channels such as work lights, conductor lights, followspot and smoke machine control to a special section that isn't affected by the rest of the system. Having somewhere to put your screens that isn't in the way of your view of the stage. Being able to spot the important information at any time, on the screens or in the console displays. a dream team for development Good products are the result of having the right people on the development team. When ETC acquired the Avab brand, more energy and focus was put toward development than ever before. We combined the 20-year expertise of our original programming and design team with the talent of some great newcomers to complete the missing parts of the current control puzzle: moving lights, media servers and concert lighting. Congo is current ready for the challenges of today's lighting market. your experience counts Avab control systems have always been developed with the involvement of end users. Our feedback loop is extremely tight. You talk, we listen. Share your experiences with us you may find your input in the next upgrade.
