Any iterations thereafter (due to creative changes) will be covered by the production company. * Originals Localization rate has been established based on the Scope Of Work below- Please refer to the Global Rate Card on the npv.netflix.com website under the Resource Center tab for our current subtitle localization rates. The 30 % surcharge should be added to these rates. * Please confirm with the CDS what type of an Original you were assigned to work on. The 30% surcharge should be added to all Netflix Branded projects that would be going through the Originals Scope of Work.
Netflix Originals NPV Media Fulfillment and Delivery SCOPE OF WORK Netflix Originals Media Services encompasses the transcoding, packaging, and delivery fulfillment for post-production. This is not to be confused with Netflix Originals Creative Services which includes editorial, VFX, mastering, color and finishing. Partners must have a dedicated project management team that understands the nature of Netflix Originals production and post-production work Each project manager must be limited to no more than three simultaneous Netflix Original titles Provide a delivery schedule of all assets at least two weeks in advance Provide weekly reports detailing upcoming and completed milestones Host weekly conference calls with Netflix and the production company when applicable Communicate proactively with various teams at Netflix Partners will be held accountable to KPIs dictated and subject to change by Netflix Originals Master Fulfillment Netflix Originals Mastering encompasses the packaging and delivery fulfillment for master video and audio, including alternative audio. Pre-qualify material as workable before more detailed QC checks are performed Video must be sourced from a final uncompressed color timed Video Master Must never be created from QC Proxy Files Inbound QC of AV using approved auto QC tool and either selecting the Netflix Profile or SMPTE IMF App 2e+ Full linear QC of each file element to check for the following: Adherence to Netflix Originals Technical Specifications Adherence to Netflix Master QC Specifications Onscreen text Digital corruption Sync accuracy Harding Test (or similar PSE testing) compliance Audio levels adhere to the defined mix spec (both 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo) Content and Technical Issues Identified here (not limited to) Additional steps for HDR content: Utilize SMPTE-2084 EOTF Production Monitor in P3/D65/PQ Color space Full linear review of derived SDR conform utilizing embedded Dolby Vision metadata Deliver QC report to Netflix Originals Localization 1
Netflix Originals Localization encompasses the origination, packaging, and delivery fulfillment for timed text and alternative audio. Text Localization English Template Origination Creation of an English template with annotations by top tier English editor to be submitted for Netflix QC approval. Please note the English template is a deliverable and should be submitted prior to to further localization work in a timeline previously agreed with the relevant Netflix parties The English template should be created according to the English Template Style Guide, following the outlined best practices regarding frame specific spotting, character line limits, reading speed and other defined style requirements Annotations should be provided for downstream localization. Notes should cover all relevant information, including but not limited to: spelling of names, places, cultural and historical references, idioms, etc. Proofing by a second top tier English editor to ensure accuracy to program audio, sync and absence of typos or grammatical errors or positioning overlap Ensure Netflix-supplied Key, Names and Phrases (KNP) document is complied with and complete, including but not limited to important names, places and terms that must be spelled and formatted as per the production scripts, especially where brand of franchise consistency is a consideration When not provided with a Netflix KNP, create KNP based on the Netflix supplied template If applicable, confirm with Netflix/content creator for inclusion of songs If applicable, confirm with Netflix/content creator for specific style and creative choices (e.g. foreign dialogue treatment) If applicable, make updates or revisions when provided a new picture edit or audio mix Final technical QC step to ensure adherence to all Netflix required specs Create or export final timed text in a format adhering to Netflix specifications Resolve and implement any suggested revisions to the English template prior to localization In the case of non-english original audio, provide Netflix with English raw translation for review and QC prior to proceeding with translations/english template creation Alternative Timed Text Creation Transcription or translation of the original language audio into foreign language timed text by a top tier, in-territory, native translator/subtitler. The same resource should be utilized for all episodes across a season, and, unless otherwise impossible, all seasons of a show Adhere to newest version of Netflix Timed Text Style Guide including frame specific spotting, character line limits, language-specific reading speed, and other style requirements Use approved translations for the Netflix Originals Credits; Create a localized KNP based on the Netflix provided document/template to ensure important names, places and terms are spelled and formatted consistently during the translation process and review by Netflix QC Updated versions of this document are to be delivered with each new batch of episodes or standalone content 2

Forced Narrative Origination Translation of non-source language or non-dubbed dialogue or onscreen text into target language timed text by a top tier, in-territory, native speaker Adhere to newest version of Netflix Timed Text Style Guide including frame specific spotting, character line limits, language-specific reading speed, and other style requirements Use approved translations for the Netflix Originals Credits Proofing against target audio to ensure accuracy, absence of voiced onscreen text, proper timing and absence of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and positioning issues Ensure forced narrative provides all necessary translations without being redundant with secondary audio Ensure consistency of translation of important names, places and terms with secondary audio translations If applicable, confirm with Netflix for inclusion and translation of songs and other specific style and creative choices (e.g. foreign dialogue treatment) Create or export final timed text in a format adhering to Netflix specifications Timed Text Linear QC Prior to start of QC Check technical compliance against latest Netflix spec. Check Caption / Subtitle file is timed to Runtime (Hour 0) and not Timecode Complete full linear QC of Caption / Subtitle file Ensure sync and file completeness Ensure all applicable dialogue is transcribed / translated for the duration of the program Ensure proper placement within the picture, with no overlap of existing onscreen text Flag any instances of Forced Subtitle redundancy with audio translation Final content QC pass performed in-house to ensure consistency in following KNPs, showguide, and any other specific translation instructions provided by Netflix across all languages and episodes 3
Audio Localization Pre-Recording Dubbing Script Origination Transcription of the source audio and onscreen text into annotated script format for archive/localization purposes. Notes should cover all relevant information, including but not limited to: spelling of names, places, cultural and historical references, idioms, etc. Script notes to be delivered within 48 hours. If more than one script is being delivered at a time, each additional script to be delivered in 24 hrs. Netflix will not review or approve any studio responses beyond the initial round of dubbing script QC, as it is often difficult to know if a translation will work in the dubbed audio before it is recorded Translation/adaptation of the source script into a foreign language script by a top tier, interritory language resource. The same translator should be utilized for all episodes across a season, and, unless otherwise impossible, all seasons of a show Adhere to newest version of Netflix Dubbed Audio Style Guide Confirm with Netflix/Production Company for inclusion and translation of songs and other specific style and creative choices (e.g. foreign dialogue treatment) Ensure important names, places and terms are spelled and formatted as per the production scripts and/or provided KNP, especially where brand of franchise consistency is a consideration Provide source and localized scripts, along with KNP document, to Netflix for linguistic review and implement all necessary changes that do not conflict with creative intent or lip sync Alternative Audio Origination Discuss cast choices and use of star talent when applicable with Netflix/show creators When applicable, accommodate voice casting or provide voice samples as requested for Netflix s Localization Team for approval Perform M&E QC and flag any issues that might affect localization Ensure timely recording and mix of assets Ensure final alternative audio deliverables adhere to the latest version of the Netflix Dubbed Audio Style guide and the Netflix Originals Technical Specifications Maintain the necessary infrastructure to support post-recording pick-ups based on Netflix Audio QC comments Provide as-recorded localized scripts for archiving purposes, all audio stems, protools sessions, and printmasters Communicate to Netflix the need of forced files to cover: Non-source or non-dubbed plot relevant dialogue Any instance of plot relevant on-screen text not translated or conveyed in dialogue, either as part of the main picture (a letter, text message) or added in post production (burned-in identifiers, location cards, etc) Alternative Audio Linear QC Run automated QC software to ensure proper audio levels and file integrity Review asset runtime to confirm match to length of primary video (must match to the frame) Ensure all audio metadata is accurate Linear QC of all channels (1 pass 5.1 surround, 1 pass 2.0 stereo) Completed in controlled listening environment with appropriately configured nearfield loud speakers 4
