September: Concert at the Dallas Museum of Art w/ the James Gilyard Ensemble 2000 A few of the most notable of nearly 200 professional engagements in which I was invited to perform during 2000 include the following: Feb: March: April Dallas Museum of Art concert with the Chris DeRose quartet UTD concert with internationally recognized jazz drummer Billy Hart The Denton Arts and Jazz Festival with the Marchel Ivery Quintet.

May: Dallas Museum of Art concert with the James Gilyard Ensemble Performance w/ Jim Riggs big band at the Grapevine Festival. Other rhythm section members were UNT faculty members Lynn Seaton and Ed Soph. June: Concert in downtown Fort Worth festival with Canadian saxophonist Billy Robinson. September: Jazz concert/lecture given for the Waxahachie Chautauqua Society with the James Gilyard ensemble. The program included ragtime, Billy Strayhorn tunes, and music by John Coltrane. October: UTD concert with the James Gilyard ensemble. Performed on the Sammons Jazz Festival with guitarist Rick Strauss, bassist Lynn Seaton, and drummer Ed Soph. Other performers at the Festival included McCoy Tyner, David Newman, and Pucho Valdez. Performed in a benefit concert given for Denton's Citizens for a Healthy Growth. Other performers appearing on the concert included Marv Stamm, Stefan Karlsson, and the UNT jazz faculty. November: Dallas Museum of Art concert with the Chris DeRose quartet Other: Numerous ensemble engagements at Sambuca, a regular solo piano engagement at Houston's, and many contracts at the City Club, in addition to many other free lance jazz and commercial engagements. 1999 A few of the more notable of nearly 200 professional engagements in which I was invited to perform during 1999 include the following: Performed on an album by jazz composer Steven Meeks with drummer Earl Harvin. Performed several concerts at the Dallas Museum of Art. Performed at a wedding ceremony in Ft. Lauderdale Fl. Notable among other Broadway performers contributing was Ted Neeley (of Jesus Christ Superstar fame). Performed two jazz recitals at UTD w/ the James Gilyard Ensemble. Performed at a jazz festival in Lawton, OK w/ the James Gilyard Ensemble. 1998 January: Concert at Cedar Valley College w/ the James Gilyard Ensemble. I also participated in a symposium for the National Association of Negro Musicians w/ Mr. Gilyard. Besides demonstrating musical examples with the jazz quartet, I was asked to lecture regarding the upper extensions of jazz chord voicings. February: Performed a jazz recital at UTD w/ the Inner City Jazz Quartet March: Performed a faculty recital at UTD w/ Kathryn Evans. May: Concert at the Dallas Museum of Art w/ jazz guitarist Chris DeRose. July: I was invited by internationally acclaimed jazz drummer and educator, Ed Soph, to perform a concert with Ed and other acclaimed visiting drummers for participants of a drum workshop at the University of North Texas. August: Performed on KDFW TV w/ the Marchel Ivery quartet. Recorded a third CD, Speak to My Heart w/ jazz bassist/composer James Gilyard. September: Performed a concert at Cedar Valley College w/ the Chris DeRose trio. Performed on KDFW TV w/ the James Gilyard ensemble.

November: Presented a faculty jazz recital at UTD with guest artists Ed Soph, James Gilyard, and Rodney Booth. December: Presented a jazz Christmas program at The Campus Theater in Denton. Conducted performances by the UTD Jazz Ensemble at the Spring and Winter Arts Festivals. Presented the first performance by students of UTD's newly established MIDI lab (computers and music) for the Spring Arts Festival. 1997 Was the featured soloist w/ the James Gilyard Ensemble at a "Roots of Jazz " concert as part of the Fall '97 Sammons Center for the Arts Jazz Series. Participated in a symposium for the National Association of Negro Musicians with James Gilyard (spring, 98). Mr. Gilyard was one of two composers being honored. Besides demonstrating musical examples with the quartet, I was asked to explain the upper extensions of jazz chord voicings to the participants. Several Jazz concerts at the DMA Melrose Hotel approx. 240 solo pno. performances. Approx. 40 jazz performances at Sambuca jazz club with various ensembles and guest artists. approx. 75 contacted jobs (weddings, corporate functions, openings of high profile restaurants, etc.) with my own groups and others. 1996 essentially the same regularly scheduled performances as above, with the addition of the Sound of Class performance at UTD by the Inner City Jazz Quartet. 1995 CD Recording/co production w/ James Gilyard "I Tell My Heart" Attended the International Association of Jazz Educators' convention. Jamison and the Alvin Ailey Dance Company. Was Coordinator of Dance Accompanists. Duties included teaching musicians to accompany modern and jazz dance classes, as well as writing and performing music for faculty and student dance recitals. Played piano for feature film, Daddy s Dying, Who s Got the Will? working with Judge Reinhold, Beau Bridges, Beverly D/Angelo, Amy Wright, and Tess Harper. Duties included recording several piano tracks, as well as rehearsing and coaching the actors in a musical scene. Research Interests Interests and ongoing research include digital music and recording techniques, as well as further studies in the history of jazz music. Awards and Fellowships College of Music Division of Jazz Studies, The University of North Texas, Denton, TX As a graduate student, was awarded the Jazz Piano Teaching Fellowship under Dan Haerle (1988 1990). Semester duties included teaching 5 sections of jazz piano class, as well as directing a synthesizer performance ensemble. Achievements in Original Achievement, Investigation, and Research How to Carve An Angel, original poem by Peter Fulton. Commissioned to add original music and sound scapes to the recorded poem. For this project I utilized midi, digital recording and sound editing software.
