May 2007 rls) In general, follow AACR2r and LCRI chapter 6 when cataloging sound recordings. For instructions on new sound recording formats, please see this L.C. document. REQUIRED FIELDS/SUBFIELDS (in order): Field Example Notes: [See for more information: OCLC documentation ( additional resources ); AACR2r & LCRI chap. 6]. Use for sound effects; bird calls; physical exercise recordings that consist of spoken, shouted, sung, or chanted instructions over musical accompaniment; stories read over incidental music accompaniment; and plays with incidental music. j: musical sound recording. Code for characteristics of an item that cannot be coded in the fixed field. Use also to code the characteristic of accompanying material. For example, use it to code for a book that accompanies a sound recording.
