Show Details Seussical KIDS Book by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty Music by Stephen Flaherty; Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens Conceived by Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty and Eric Idle Based on the works of Dr. Seuss When Horton the Elephant hears a very soft noise, he discovers a planet full of tiny girls and boys. On a small speck of dust is a planet called Who, lives a young child named JoJo who is feeling quite blue. But when Horton meets JoJo, oh the things they can think! They ll save all of Whoville as fast as a blink. Thanks to brave Horton, we ll learn, one and all, that a person s a person... no matter how small! CAST OF CHARACTERS: JoJo Cat in the Hats, 1, 2 & 3 Horton Gertrude McFuzz Mayzie LaBird Sour Kangaroo Little Kangaroo Wickersham Brothers Mr. Mayor Mrs. Mayor Talk Show Host Vlad Vladikoff Marshal Judge Yertle The Whos The Jungle Citizens

For ACTORS: There are two steps to your audition! AUDITION MATERIAL STEP 1: Singing Each actor will be asked to sing a part of a song they choose. You will first introduce yourself and let your directors know what you will be singing. Practice this with the following sentence: Hello! My name is. I am in grade, and I will be singing today. o NOTE: Your directors might also ask you to answer a question about yourself (favorite dessert, favorite food, favorite animal, etc). This helps us get to you know you a little better! For your song, pick something you really enjoy singing. (We suggest something Disney or from your favorite musical). You will sing this a capella (meaning without a piano.) Your directors only need to hear one verse. STEP 2: Acting Please review the following lines and be prepared to perform them at auditions. You do not have to have lines memorized. Please be prepared to read for both parts. JOJO: I m JoJo. The Mayor s son. HORTON: I m Horton. The Elephant. JOJO: Are you real, or are you a very large think? HORTON: Oh, I m real, all right. I would state that in ink! JOJO: In my Thinks, I imagine a lot of strange things, and I go to strange places, as if I had wings! I love a good Think! HORTON: Well, for me that goes double. JOJO: Sometimes my Thinks are what get me in trouble. When you think, do you think you could fly to the stars? HORTON: Little friend, no one else could have Thinks such as ours!

AUDITION MATERIAL For PARENTS: How can I help my actor do his/her best at auditions? Ask your actor the follow questions: Do you understand what every word means in your song/scene? What is happening in the scene? What does Horton want? What does JoJo want? What are the characters feeling? How do you show that emotion? When your actor prepares at home, ask yourself the following: Are their voices loud and clear? Are they showing emotion on their faces? Are they using their whole body to tell the story when singing their song? Want to feel extra prepared? Take The Art of Auditioning Workshop here at Wolf Performing Arts Center Friday, January 6 from 4:30-6pm Register online!
