1.0 INSTALLATION 1.0 INSTALLATION 1.1 The optional Cinemax for BlackWing mk2010 (Ref. T9005500) The Blackwing projector centralizes the controls and automation commands of the Cinemax for BlackWing mk2010 for a unique, versatile and unexpectedly simple to operate true cinemascope experience using the THEATRE Anamorphic Lens. The projector includes the complete set of commands to control the image displayed with the Cinemax for BlackWing mk2010 installed. 1.2 Installing the Cinemax for BlackWing mk2010 a) Use the 4x M2x10 screws to fix the THEATRE Anamorphic Lens lens to the lens support. Fix the Anamorphic lens to the Cinemax for BlackWing mk2010. At this step, double check the horizontal level of the Lens to avoid any picture trapezoidal distortion. b) Use the 2x M5x15 screws to fix the plate at the bottom of the projector. M5x15 Fix the Cinemax for BlackWing mk2010 to the projector. c) If you plan to use the projector in ceiling position, assemble the plat prior to the Cinemax for BlackWing 4 R599783 - Cinemax for BlackWing mk2010

Tighten the screws when completed. This adjustment can also be achieved by using the Horizontal Lens Offset. The Horizontal Lens Offset should be used only for fine adjustments. The use of the maximum 34% horizontal offset may decrease the overall picture quality.. 6 R599783 - Cinemax for BlackWing mk2010

1.0 INSTALLATION Set the tilt and vertical position of the lens B B ZOOM Adjust the Anamorphic Lens tilt and vertical position, so that the projector light beam is centered into the Anamorphic Lens. Tighten the 2 screws (B) when completed. You may obtain a residual pincushion effect at the screen when using a throw ratio between 1.5:1 and 1.8:1 or a projection distance shorter than 5 meters. It is recommanded to install your projector at a minimum distance of 5 meters from the screen and using 1.8:1 or higher throw ratio. R599783 - Cinemax for BlackWing mk2010 7

1.0 INSTALLATION Adjust the Anamorphic Lens Focus The Anamoprhic Lens features a 6-turns focus ring x y Focused Not focused The focus adjustment is requiered only on the horizontal x-axis. Turn the focus ring clockwise or anti-clockwise depending on the distance between the projector and the screen to obtain a clear picture. If the picture is not focused on the vertical y-axis, that means that the general focus is not correct. Set it correctly by adjusting the projector focus using the projector RCU. 8 R599783 - Cinemax for BlackWing mk2010

2.0 PROJECTOR-SIDE CONFIGURATION 2.0 PROJECTOR-SIDE CONFIGURATION 2.1 Configure the projector 12V Trigger output The 12V Trigger may be usefull in a 2.35 projection installation, by example, you may want to control a screen masking or special lightning condition only when the source is a genuine Cinemascope content. On such purposes, the 12V trigger can be used as described below. Connect your screen control device to the trigger output of the projector 12V Trigger The 12V Trigger output can indicate when projecting in 2.35:1 format Configure Menu Function Trigger to ON (Vstretch) Screen mask Lightning Control The Menu Function Trigger menu determines the 12V Trigger output located in the panel input of the Blackwing projector this is a global parameter (for all inputs): You can set the 12V Trigger to: OFF: the 12V Trigger is always OFF. ON (Power): the 12V Trigger 2 is active only when the projector is switched ON. ON (Vstretch): the 12V Trigger 2 is active when the projector uses its V-Stratch function, during a 2.35:1 format projection. 2.2 Configure the Picture Geometry for 2.35:1 Sources. The V-Stretch and Aspect functions are Input dependant, so that you can apply different Picture Modes and keeping the aspect ratio unchanged. Select the correct Aspect Ratio and apply the V-Stretch function: When a 2.35:1 source is input and the Cinemax for BlackWing mk2010 is mounted, you need to stretch the picture to obtain a full screen image without distortion. Browse into menu, check that the Aspect ratio is set to 16:9 and then apply the V-stretch function: a) Menu Input Signal Aspect Ratio 16:9 b) Menu Input Signal V-Stretch ON A faster way to operate these changes is to configure a programmable IR-Remote Control or to use RS-232 commands to change both aspect ratio and v-stretch values applied to the projected image. See Switching between Formats with RS-232, page 10 for details. R599783 - Cinemax for BlackWing mk2010 9

2.0 PROJECTOR-SIDE CONFIGURATION 2.3 Configure the Picture Gemoetry for 16:9 Sources When selecting an input with a 16:9 aspect ratio frame, the picture has to be squeezed to obtain a non-distorded image on the screen. 16:9 image 16:9 image displayed into a 2.35:1 screen Select the correct Aspect Ratio and apply the V-Stretch function: When a 16:9 source is input, you need to squeeze the picture so that the image obtain is completely displayed into the 2.35:1 screen, fillnig the total height of the screen.to do so: Browse into menu, set the Aspect ratio to 4:3, to squeeze the image and then check that the V-stretch function: is disabled a) Menu Input Signal Aspect Ratio 4:3 b) Menu Input Signal V-Stretch OFF A faster way to operate these changes is to configure a programmable IR-Remote Control or to use RS-232 commands to change both aspect ratio and v-stretch values applied to the projected image. See Switching between Formats with RS-232, page 10 for details. 2.4 Switching between Formats To switch forth and backward, press twice the [ASPECT] button on the RCU as described below.
