CINEMA LED CINEMA OF THE FUTURE Cinema LED is the cinema of the future. It s the end of the projection technology, the light beam and the white screen! The Samsung Cinema LED Screen is a giant LED screen instead of a traditional white screen. 9 million pixels illuminate an area 10.3 meters wide and 5.4 meters high, ensuring a much higher image quality, with brightness, luminosity and sharpness never before seen. For now, this new technology only exists as a prototype in a cinema in the South Korean capital of Seoul, near the Samsung Group s headquarter, as well as in Shanghai. The first Samsung Cinema LED Screen with 3D technology in the world will be operational as of Friday, March 23rd, in ARENA Cinemas, auditorium 5. The Zurich-based company, Imaculix AG, is ARENA Cinemas partner in terms of Samsung Cinema LED Screen. BLACK BOX WITHOUT PROJECTION BEAM Samsung Cinema LED Screen consists of 96 modules, which, if necessary, can be exchanged and replaced individually. Thanks to the seamless installation and high precision calibration, the impression of a black and uniform wall is achieved. Reflections are no longer possible, the cinema becomes a black box completely obscure. Since Samsung Cinema LED Screen works without a projection beam, it s pitch black. As for the image, it is a net image over the entire surface and exactly matches the dimensions of the Screen. The Samsung Cinema LED Screen s light intensity is about ten times better than a conventional cinema projector. Even in daylight scenes, the brilliance of the colors is maintained, while all the details remain visible in the darkest sequence. Samsung Cinema LED Screen technology can play 3D movies, as it is the case in Zurich. It consumes much less power than traditional projectors. In addition, the lifetime of the LEDs is, with nearly 100,000 hours, significantly higher. Samsung Cinema LED Screen is also an ideal solution when using auditoriums for events with lighting, such as conferences or gaming sessions - an increasingly important use for cinemas. The audio system is new, to add on, with perfect room acoustics in every seat. ARENA CINEMAS AG With the opening of the multiplex cinema at the Sihlcity mall ten years ago, ARENA Cinemas has laid the foundation for its current group of cinemas. The third largest group of cinemas in Switzerland, ARENA Cinemas is the only one to be present at five sites, with a total of 50 screens in the four linguistic regions. With ARENA Cinemas Sihlcity in Zurich, it operates a megaplex - currently the only one in Switzerland - with 18 screens. At the end of 2018, a new five-screen cinema at Netstal GL and beginning 2020, another 18 screens megaplex in Basel will be added to the group.
