Live theatre FOR our community, October 15-18, 21-25, 2015 December 3-6, 9-13, 16-20, 2015 From an adaptation by Christopher Bond; Music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim; Book by Hugh Wheeler. After 15 years of false imprisonment, Benjamin Barker returns to London under the alias Sweeney Todd, determined to seek vengeance upon the man responsible for his incarceration. Sophisticated, macabre, visceral, and uncompromising, Sweeney Todd nevertheless has a great sense of fun, mixing intense drama with howlingly funny moments of dark humor. Audiences will find themselves laughing hysterically one moment and gasping in surprise the next. With its dark adult themes, Sweeney Todd is intended for mature audiences. Audition date: 8/30/15 ASL Performance: October 21, 2015 Music by Richard Rodgers; Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II; Book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. Based on the true story of the von Trapp Family Singers, this beloved musical follows Maria as she leaves the convent to become governess to the seven children of Captain Georg von Trapp. As moving and infectious today as it was in its 1959 Broadway debut, The Sound of Music invites you to share the hope, heart, and healing power of music. Indeed, this story will make you believe that anything is possible! Presented through special arrangement with R & H Theatricals: www.rnh.com Audition date: 10/4/15 ASL Performance: December 9, 2015
January 21-24, 27-31, 2016 March 10-13, 16-20, 2016 Music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison; Book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar; Presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. In this clever, Tony Award-winning spoof of musical comedies, a discontented Broadway fan, known only as Man in Chair, puts on a 1928 recording of his favorite musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, in an attempt to lift his mood. Soon his drab apartment transforms into an opulent Broadway stage, and the musical comes to life in front of his eyes! Mistaken identities, shenanigans, and a dramatically-colorful cast of characters, along with Man in Chair s wry, running commentary, create a hilarious musical-within-a-musical. Audition date: 11/22/15 ASL Performance: January 27, 2016 By Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield. This madcap production condenses the great works of William Shakespeare into irreverent and hilarious micro performances at breakneck speed! The cast improvises throughout the show, unabashedly invoking modern pop culture and involving the audience. Perhaps there will be a hip-hop version of Othello, or a zany parody of Romeo & Juliet or Hamlet. This uproarious non-musical production will allow the audience to see the Bard in a new, farcical light that will appeal to both Shakespeare lovers and novices alike. Produced by special arrangement with Broadway Play Publishing Inc. Audition date: 1/24/16 ASl Performance: March 16, 2016
April 28 - May 1, 4-8, 11-15 Music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman; Book by Julian Fellowes; New songs and additional music and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe; Co-created by Cameron Mackintosh; Based on the stories of P.L. Travers and the Walt Disney Film. The flying nanny finally lands in Missoula and in the nick of time at the Banks family home! The Banks children are behaving terribly, their mother finds the roles of wife and caretaker to be impossibly demanding, and their father is experiencing hardship of his own at work. Luckily for the family, the lovable Mary Poppins and her equally-charming friend Bert teach them to Step in Time and take on life s troubles with A Spoonful of Sugar! Enjoy a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious night with Mary Poppins! Audition date: 2/28/16 ASL Performance: May 4, 2016 Autism Spectrum Adapted Performance: May 10, 2016 Join in on the fun!
