Starting this Fall quarter, our long-time Faculty Requisitions Coordinator Stacie Shellner has taken over responsibility for handling course-pack and manual adoptions in addition to all other faculty requisitions for textbooks. Elliott King has moved from coordinating custom publishing to handling the general merchandise side of our store e-commerce website. Stacie s always been there to help faculty and departments submit their textbook lists for each quarter, researching price and availability of texts for faculty and helping resolve questions about edition changes and publisher bundles. Now Stacie will also be the point of contact for help with: Course requisitions for all course materials Producing course-packs/custom readers Reproducing out of print works Copyright and Fair Use questions Self-authored course books or manuals Department workbooks or lab manuals Stacie will make sure that any custom-printed project ordered by a Cal Poly Pomona instructor gets all necessary copyright permissions and clearances. She ll handle reporting holders, and any applicable royalties to the professor or department. She ll also help arrange all the production details with Graphics. She can also help faculty who are interested in making their course-packs or manuals available digitally instead of or in addition to in print form. Bronco Bookstore can set up any custom project through Study Soup, RedShelf or Academic Pub. Custom projects can take several weeks to complete if they include copyrighted material that requires clearance. The sooner you contact our department to request your project, the smoother things will go. Make sure to include all the following information: Course number and expected enrollment for the project Title of the project Complete bibliographic information on copyrighted source materials*: Author, title, publisher, publication date, ISBN of books or volume/edition of periodicals, and pages used. also need copyright clearance even if the text in the project is your original work. To get started with your custom project, contact Stacie at: sashellner@csupomona.edu - 909.869.3751 www.broncobookstore.com RECEIVE UP TO A $ TEXTBOOKS ON TIME INCENTIVE PROGRAM COURSE MATERIALS REQUISITIONS 50 GIFT PROGRAM DETAILS: CARD! Departments returning 90%+ requisitions by the deadline: Dept. Secretary/Textbook coordinators receive: $50 Foundation n Gift Card Departments returning 80%+ requisitions by the deadline: Dept. Secretary/Textbook coordinators receive: $40 Foundation Gift Card Departments returning 70%+ requisitions by the deadline: Dept. Secretary/Textbook coordinators receive: $30 Foundation Gift Card PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: Percentages calculated based on the number of sections imported from the BroncoDirect/PeopleSoft online schedule file as of the cut-off date of oct. 17, 2014. Departments that repeatedly submit courses as no text required when books are actually used, or submit inaccurate requisitions to meet the deadline, will be ineligible to participate. Why Your On-Time Requisitions Matter to Student Learning Success Accessibility: The Disability Resource Center needs accurate information about course materials far enough ahead of time to request electronic versions from publishers or to convert printed copies, frequently donated by our store, to accessible electronic formats. Faculty members with class/es turned in by the deadline will receive a Thank You candy bar and a 25% off coupon for a Bronco Gear or General Books purchase at Bronco Bookstore. Affordability: As of July 2010, the Federal Higher Education Act requires that textbook information be posted as soon as possible to help keep costs down for students. Timely requisitions help us control textbook costs through: Buyback and Used book availability - We can only offer students 50% of the new price for their books if we know that the same book will be used again. - The sooner we know what books are needed, the more time we have to search for used copies from all sources. Affordable Alternatives: We try to match adopted books with e-book versions from CourseSmart and Cengage Brain, and binder ready / looseleaf versions offered by publishers. The more time we have the more titles we can match. Textbook rental and guaranteed buyback programs. Availability: It takes our staff time to do all the research, ordering and stocking to make sure that 2000 titles every quarter arrive on time. The later we receive a requisition, the greater chance there is of something going wrong (shipping errors, publishers not having stock available) that will cause problems for faculty and students alike! winter FALL 2013 2015 TEXTBOOK ADOPTIONS DUE 10/17/2014 5/10/2013 5/9/2014
