DAY 2 ARTICLE Self-repairing Tooth No drills, needles, or PAIN! Scientists at King s College in London have found a way for a decayed tooth to fix itself. The technique uses electric currents to reverse the decaying process to make a bad tooth as good as new. The breakthrough was reported in The Times of India, on June 17, 2014. The Electrically Accelerated and Enhanced Remineralisation first cleans the damaged area of the exterior enamel layer of the tooth, and then uses an electric current to apply minerals to go in and repair the tooth. The method can also whiten teeth painlessly. No pain should be the new way s biggest advantage: no drills, no injections, and no filling materials are necessary for this process. The electric current is used in such a small amount that patients cannot feel it. Traditional treatment for dental caries or tooth decay is drilling into your tooth. We all know the fear, pain, unpleasant sound, and even the feeling of helplessness. This new technique accelerates the natural process of repairing decayed teeth. It helps calcium and phosphate minerals go into the tooth to rebuild the tooth. Tooth decay does not happen overnight but develops over a long period of time. It begins with a microscopic defect where minerals leach out of a tooth. Minerals continue to move in and out of the tooth in a natural cycle but when too much mineral is lost, the enamel is undermined and the tooth is said to have developed a caries lesion (which can later become a physical cavity), according to the article. 1. Breakthrough 2. Accelerated 3. Remineralisation 1. Give your opinion about the article. 2. Will you undergo this treatment if you have problems to on teeth? 3. DAY 4 DEBATE To Pack or Not to Pack? Variety is the spice of life, is a proverb in English that means doing different things makes life interesting. In many public schools, the meals that schools provide are bland and boring, so some families want to pack lunches for their children to take to school. Families who are not in favor of doing this have other motivations for preferring that their children get their lunches at schools. Let's take a look at both sides of the debate. Pros: I would rather pack my lunch at home and take it to school than get my lunch at school. Everyone knows that schools are on tight budgets, so they cannot afford the freshest ingredients to make lunches with. So by packing my own lunches, I can ensure that my food is nutritious. And for picky eaters like myself, taking your lunches to school allows you to eat food that you like. When I do not pack my lunch and get lunch at school, I often do not eat everything, because the food does not taste very good, so I often feel hungry and cannot concentrate on my lessons. So, in sum, packing your own lunch is clearly the better choice. Cons: Of course, getting lunches at school is cheaper than packing lunches, but does anyone think that there is such a thing as a free lunch? Even though our lunches might be labelled as free lunches, they are not really free. People s tax money is paying for those lunches. So one way or another, people are paying for their lunches at school. The people who choose to pack their lunches are actually paying twice for one lunch. Maybe the nutritional values are a little better. And maybe they taste a little better. But are they really twice as good? 1. Variety 2. Nutritious 3. Labelled 1. What can you say about the issue? 2. Would you like your kids to have the free lunch at school or prepare a pack lunch for them? 3. When you were still studying which meal do you take? Free lunch from school or pack lunch prepared by your parents?

EXAMPLE 1: It's late, so I guess I'll hit the hay. EXAMPLE 2: To hit the hay early means to get a good health. 4. hit the sack: go to bed. EXAMPLE 1: You have a class early tomorrow, so hit the sack now! EXAMPLE 2: I'm really tired. I think I'll hit the sack. 2. hit the books: study. EXAMPLE 1: I wish I could go to the movies, but I've got to hit the books. EXAMPLE 2: You can never pass these subjects if you won t hit the books.
