UNIT 1: SOCIALIZING Contents: Greeting song activity Transversal Theme: Human rights Education Functions: Exchanging greetings, introductions and leave takings Greeting Song & Cards Activity 1 Function: Learning and saying basic greeting and leave taking vocabulary Content: Hello, Goodbye song. Cards with images and vocabulary. Seating arrangement: C Skills: L/S MI: Inter, M, B Time: 10 Materials: Tape recorder or mp3 player, handout 1, handout 2. Procedure: 1. Ask the students to make a circle to sing and dance. 2. Lead them to shake hands as the song says Hello and wave good bye as the song says goodbye. 3. The students can use also the cards with words in handout 2 during the song. 4. This activity can be used at the beginning or end of class Variation: 1. The students should make a gesture depending on the words that he professor indicates. 2. The professor can give to each student a different card with a word in order to use it during the song.

Sit the Ss in a circle and place some flashcards in the middle of the circle, two flashcards per each weather condition. 2. Tell Ss to put their hands on their heads. 3. T shouts out the word of one of each flashcard and have students repeat the word. 4. Have students to look for each per by touching two cards at the time. Each student has one opportunity. When the student has a pair, tell him/her to say the word of the weather condition. If the student says the word correctly s/he keeps the pair. If the student says it incorrect another student has one opportunity to say it correctly. If nobody knows the word, you say it and keep the pair.
