The Arranger Jeremy Woolstenhulme received his Bachelor o Music Education degree rom Brigham Young University in 2000 and a Master o Arts degree in cello erormance rom the University o Nevada Las Vegas in 2005. Mr. Woolstenhulme currently serves as the orchestra director at Hyde ark Middle School in the Clark County School District o Las Vegas NV where he teaches and conducts seven orchestras daily. His award-winning orchestras have erormed at the 2008 Midwest Clinic and in 2010 2011 and 2015 at the ASTA National Conerence. He has also traveled with his orchestras to London Washington D.C. Boston San Diego and New York. Mr. Woolstenhulme has served as clinician and guest conductor several times throughout Australia including the restigious Maryborough Music Conerence in 2013. Mr. Woolstenhulme is a contract member o the Las Vegas hilharmonic. He serves as cellist or the Seasons String Quartet and erorms as a reelance musician at many entertainment venues in Las Vegas. He is also the ounder and coordinator o the Las Vegas String Worksho an innovative summer worksho divided into two tracks one or students and one or teachers. With a growing number o original and arranged works to his credit Woolstenhulme is a commissioned and ublished comoser many o which have been erormed across the United States and abroad. He is co-author with Terry Shade and Wendy Barden o the highly acclaimed string method String Basics. His seciality is to write or middle and high school orchestras where he comoses to teach challenge and insire. Basics About the Comosition Baroque Minuet oers great oortunities to solidiy slurring grous o two eighth notes. Work with bow division and seed to hel students create an even and legato sound. Use scales as one way to ocus on the rhythm and slurring combinations eatured in the comosition. Hairin crescendos and decrescendos can be ound in several sots in the music. These may be new music symbols or students to recognize and erorm. Isolate these more subtle dynamic changes with scale work. Johann Sebastian Bach and the Baroque eriod 3 Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) rom Eisenach Germany was born into seven generations o musicians in his amily. He was surrounded with music throughout his lie. When Johann was a child his ather taught him to lay the violin and a ew years later his brother taught him the organ and harsichord. Bach let home when he was about 15 years old to attend a restigious music school. When he comleted school in 1703 he was considered an organ virtuoso. Throughout his lie Bach held jobs at various churches and royal courts. or nearly 30 years he was music director at the St. Thomas School in Leizig. As a comoser Bach wrote over 1000 works including choral orchestral and chamber music and organ and keyboard music. Bach shared his love o music with his many children several who became well-known musicians. The Baroque eriod (1600-1750) Johann Sebastian Bach lived during a time in music history called the Baroque eriod. The Baroque eriod stretched rom 1600 to 1750. During that time comosers architects ainters clothing designers roduced ancy extravagant lavish and incredibly detailed works. The more comlex the better! Euroe during these years exerienced growth in manuacturing and trade. Education became a signiicant art o lie or a child esecially boys. In music the Baroque eriod exerienced the birth o oera. Stringed instruments as we know them today became more oular through instrument makers such as Italian luthier Antonio Stradivari (1644-1737).
