Top note sung by Sharpay, Bottom note sung by Ryan What do I bring to/prepare for my audition? Completed audition form & parent form (found at the end of this packet) 30 45 seconds of a Musical Theater style song (songs from HSM are okay) One of the monologues found on the next page, memorized Song Selection For your audition, you will prepare 30 45 seconds of any Broadway style song. This song must be memorized and will be performed a Capella (without background music). This can include any Disney songs, songs from musicals or other well-known tunes. For example: o Happy Birthday o Somewhere Over the Rainbow o Hakuna Matata (from The Lion King) o A Whole New World (from Aladdin) o Amazing Grace o Do, a Deer o Halleluiah o How Far I ll Go (from Moana) Songs from the Show If you are having a hard time selecting a song to sing for, you may sing a song from High School Musical Jr. We will learn this together at the Audition workshop on December 4 th. What I ve Been Looking For (Male & Female)
Monologue Options You will choose one of the following monologues from the show to recite at your audition. Your monologue must be memorized and please feel free to add movement! I suggest using Thanksgiving Break to memorize the monologue of your choosing. At the audition workshop on December 4 th, should you choose to attend, we will go over some acting tips. Monologue #1 (Female or Male): Jack/Jackie Scott: Female read as Jackie, Male read as Jack Yo, welcome back all you crazy Wildcats. This is Jack(ie) Scott, the Velvet Fog of East High with the Homeroom 411 bringing you the morning announcements: The callbacks for Juliet and Romeo have been moved up to... tomorrow at 3:00 PM.but, that s the same time as the Science Decathlon and basketball championship! Yikes! This is Jack(ie) Scott, over and out in 5-4-3-2-and 1! Monologue #2 (Female or Male): Sharpay/Ryan: Is this some kind of sick joke? They didn't even audition! Someone's got to tell that new girl the rules. Rule Number One: Pick the right clique. Two: Act like your clique. Three: Dress for your clique. Four: Know where your clique clicks. And rule number five: Stick to the status quo! They're up to something! We need to save our show from people who don't know the difference between a Tony Award and Tony Hawk. Now come on! Monologue #3 (Female): Ms. Darbus: This year, as always, the Drama Club faces a shortage of male participants, so please come in and audition. I'm offering you fun, glamour... and extra credit! Ah, the dreaded cell phone symphony! Sharpay and Ryan Evans, your phones please, and I'll see you in detention. We have zero tolerance for cell phones during class. Phone, please... and welcome to East High, Ms. Montez. Mr. Bolton, I see your phone is involved. Splendid. We'll see you in detention as well. Monologue #4 (Male): Troy: If you guys don t know that I ll put one hundred and ten percent of my guts into that game, then you don t know me at all! What do you want from me? I can t believe you guys! Is this what you want to hear: Singing means nothing to me! Gabriella means nothing to me! I ll forget the audition, forget her, and we ll go get that championship! Everyone happy now?
