WELCOME TO the Canterbury BRAND GUIDELINES. ALL THE BEST BRANDS ARE CLEAR AND CONSISTENT. IT IS SO IMPORTAnt, and this is why we have brand guidelines. They are here to help us all get the Canterbury message across. They explain how this message can be told through our visual communication. This set of guidelines is intended to help you develop creative and unique Canterbury brand communications across a range of different media. In this document there are a few simple rules that we follow to ensure our visual communication is always clear, consistent and on brand.

CORPORATE Stacked LOGO CORPORATE stacked LOGO SIZES 2 3 Our corporate stacked logo is the most effective tool we have to communicate our brand. Use it consistently to help build awareness and recognition of the Canterbury brand. The corporate stacked Canterbury logo is the primary logo and should appear on all Canterbury collateral. The corporate stacked logo can be reduced down to a minimum width of 13mm If further reduction is required please use the corporate stacked logo without the Canterbury wordmark, being careful to retain good legibility. Corporate Stacked Logo - Colour Corporate Stacked Logo - Colour 80mm width 60mm width Corporate Stacked Logo - Black Corporate Stacked Logo - White 40mm width 20mm width Use the corporate logo without the wordmark when the logo needs to be below the width of 13mm

linear LOGO LINEAR LOGO SIZes 4 5 An alternative to the corporate stacked logo is the linear logo. This version should only be used when the corporate stacked logo WILL NOT work in the required format. The Canterbury linear logo can be reduced down to a minimum width of 40mm. If further reduction is required please use the corporate logo without the Canterbury wordmark, being careful to retain good legibility. CORPORATE STACKED LOGO APPLICATION logo Exclusion Zone 6 7 The corporate stacked logo is made from Canterbury s two main colours, Canterbury Red and Black, but it can also be used in Canterbury Black and White. The logo must have clear legibility at all times and maintain its exclusion zone around all other elements. The Canterbury logos should always have space around them to help them stand out This is known as the exclusion zone. The exclusion zone and the space surrounding the logos help to maintain their clear visibility. The area around the logos must be big enough to exclude it from other graphic elements, type and the edge of the page. The examples below illustrate the correct exclusion zones where no other graphic or page edge can encroach on it. Do s Dont s To work out the exclusion zone for the corporate stacked logo, the X distance is created from the Canterbury ascender height to descender height. Corporate Stacked Logo - Colour X X Corporate Stacked Logo Black X To work out the exclusion zone for the linear logo lock-up, the X distance is created from the Canterbury x-height. LOGO POSITION LOGO PARTNERING 8 9 The preferred position for the Canterbury corporate stacked logo is centred to the page. This can be either at the top, middle or bottom of the page. If the centered version is not possible (i.e. double page spread) please use the secondary right aligned version. This position should be either top or bottom. For portrait applications, the logo should be scaled down to 15% of the total width. For landscape applications, it should be scaled down to 10.5% of the total width. Maintaning the visual integrity of the Canterbury brand is important when partnering with other information or brand logos. When using the web address, range this to the left of the page. A social media address should be ranged right, as per example below. When using a partner logo, range left and visually balance in size to the Canterbury logo. For the web and social media address stack above each other and range right, as per example below. CORPORATE colours stationery 12 13 To ensure consistency in our brand, it is essential that these colour values are adhered to. Accurate colour reproduction is one of the most important elements in achieving a consistent brand identity. See below for Canterbury corporate colours. Using these correct colour values will help achieve consistency across different media. What appears on our letterheads and business cards is how we convey our brand. These are often our first method of communication to potential business partners and must be clear and consistent. Pantone colours should be used where possible. When the use of the Pantone colours is not possible, ie. a 4 colour magazine, the CMYK substitutes must be used. For use on on-screen and the web, please use the RGB and HEX colour values shown below. Canterbury Launches Mercury Compression Leading sportswear brand Canterbury of New Zealand has redefined technical sports apparel with the launch of Mercury Compression. This high performance range of hybrid compression garments is designed to enhance athletic performance and accelerate recovery after sustained periods of exercise, and will be worn by Springboks wing Bryan Habana in September s Rugby World Cup. Inspired by its use in the medical industry, Mercury Compression uses graded compression in key zones to aid blood circulation (lower leg and lower arm). This in turn can assist in a higher venous return (volume of blood returning to the heart) resulting in faster removal of lactic acid, improved warm-up time and the ability to exercise harder for longer. Tested extensively by the Progressive Sports Technologies Consultancy based at Loughborough University, the constant compression element of the garment reduces muscle oscillation by up to 50%. As well as assisting technique, this can reduce muscle fatigue and be linked to an improved mean power output. Independent research has proven that Canterbury Mercury Compression garments can reduce muscle soreness by up to 30% following prolonged periods of exercise. This reduction can be attributed to a delayed lactate onset promoting reduced recovery time and a quicker return to training and competition. Sweat is transported from the skin s surface and evaporated by breathable fabric, which, combined with innovative LYCRA SPORT fabric, maintains the optimum level of compression whilst helping to achieve a constant body temperature. Setting it apart from its competitors, Mercury Compression s fabric construction gives a natural feel and stretch to the clothing that is striking in a performance engineered material. Chris Stephenson, CEO of Canterbury of New Zealand, comments: Canterbury prides itself on being at the cutting edge of performance sportswear technology, and the Mercury Compression range is by far the most advanced apparel we have produced to date. Intensive testing and research has gone into producing this range to ensure that Canterbury Mercury Compression is the top performer in its market, allowing the user to gain an edge over competitors and see a tangible difference in their performance and rate of recovery. Prof Mike Caine, B.Sc., Ph.D., Director of the Sports Technology Institute at Loughborough University, said: The preliminary findings of a study carried out by Progressive Sports Technologies found that athletes wearing Canterbury Mercury Compression garments perceived reduced feelings of muscle soreness after exercise, which may in turn lead to a reduced recovery time after exercise. Compression garments have been shown to increase blood-flow, enhance lactic acid removal and improve some performance measures. The range in both black and white will be available to purchase from selected Canterbury retailers and online at www.canterbury.com from early August 2011. The garments will retail at the following prices in the UK: Long Sleeve Hybrid Compression Top - 55 Hybrid Compression Legging - 55 Short Sleeve Stability Compression Top - 45 Stability Compression Short - 35 -ends- About Canterbury of New Zealand: Established in 1904, Canterbury of New Zealand is one of the world s leading rugby brands.
