Rules of the 2018 Video Contest The contest registration is free and automatically implies the agreement and acceptance of the producer and the author of all the rules of the competition as indicated below by the organization. The works presented in the competition must not be older than 2016. Works prior to 2016 may be shown to the public out of competition. The GALATHEA Video Contest, International Festival of the Marine World, Hyères is open to amateurs and professionals TWO CATEGORIES OF DISTINCT VIDEOS ARE IN COMPETITION 1- Video Clips Category The duration of the clips should not exceed 10 minutes. Underwater images in this Clip category must represent a minimum of 60% of the duration of the clip. 2- Documentary Films Category The films presented must be in French version. The duration of the documentaries must not exceed 90 Minutes. Underwater images in the documentary category must represent a minimum of 30% of the duration of the film. All genres: news, reporting, animal, animation, education, research, etc. are accepted and may be a candidate for this category. Preselections Works in competitions will be preselected by the jury who will decide or not to put them in the competition. The organizers of the festival will be able to choose certain films that have not been selected for the competition in order to present them out of competition in public sessions (When it is a very beautiful film but before 2016 for example). These films will be registered in the official program. Copies of the works to participate in the preselection must reach the festival secretariat as soon as possible, and before 06 MARCH 2018.

The composition of the jury will be announced on the festival website: www.festival-image-hyeres.com The jury is composed of personalities from the world of the underwater image. The decisions of the jury are final in all aspects of the competition and can not be disputed. The voice of the President of the jury will prevail in case of dispute. PRIZES / REWARDS Three prizes are awarded to the winners in person by the jury or a personality from the city of Hyères. For each category and each prize there will be 5 nominations PRIZES FOR EACH CATEGORY ARE : - The Golden Galatea - The prize for the best Image - The prize for the best story - A certificate of nomination will be established for nominated films PROPERTY RIGHTS The Producer and the Author of the works in contest declare to be the rightful owner of all the rights related to the presented work including the music, They declare to also have the rights to the image of the people presented in the work in competition. The Festival can not under any circumstances be held responsible in the event of a complaint by a right holder (Sacem, Scam, etc.). For any dispute, the Toulon court alone is competent. USE OF WORKS BY THE FESTIVAL By entering the competition, participants agree that submitted videos in all categories may be used or reproduced for media coverage of this event and for the promotion of future competitions in all media, including television, Internet and other media. This transfer of images to the media for the promotion of the Festival can never go beyond 2 minutes of images per work. The files presented in competition will remain indefinitely in the archives of the festival.
THIS ACCEPTANCE Gives festival organizers permission to show in public during the festival the works in competition without claiming copyright or remuneration. The works may be used in public screening at future festivals, but will never be used in public screening outside the festival period. Copyright and any other type of remuneration may not be claimed for the programming and projection of the film or films presented to the public during the Festivals, whether in competition or out of competition. By signing the official registration form of the competition, the producer and the author of the work accept the rules set out above ORGANIZATION The third festival of the underwater world of Hyères GALATHEA is realized in collaboration with the city of Hyères, many public and private organizations.
