NNC Super Talent Additional Info and Rules General Rules There is no minimum number of categories in which a club has to enter. All clubs are encouraged to participate in the Cameo category but this is not a compulsory requirement. All participants have to be currently affiliated No Name Club Hosts/ Hostesses, as per submitted affiliation form. Participants may only represent their own club. Hosts & Hostesses may participate in all or several of the various categories. Participation in an individual category does not preclude an individual from performing in other group categories. Entry details from All Clubs have to be submitted to the National Office at least 1 week in advance of the competition. The Club will then be issued a Competition Programme & Running Order. Each act will have to be ready to go on stage when its allocated time slot arrives. Failure to show at the allocated time can result in elimination. All acts have to be in good taste. Acts that are lewd or offensive will always be penalised and often will be eliminated. Information Prior to the Regional Qualifiers, we suggest that each club could hold a Supertalent night in order to give each Host and Hostess a chance to put themselves forward in any category which appeals to them. Give the young people the rules and see what they come up with. Super Talent will consist of a Regional Qualifying Round and The National Final. Each of the Regional Rounds will select one winner in each category to go forward to the National Final. In the event of the winner not being able to go forward to the Final the runner-up will take their place. The National Final of Super Talent will take place in the Limetree Theatre, Limerick, on 12 th May 18. Comedy / Novelty Act Make us laugh. Props can be used but must be capable of being set up without any delay. Use a solo comedian or several people, it is up to you. Remember always that comedy has to be in good taste. A Novelty act may consist of someone demonstrating an extraordinary skill (such as juggling etc) such a novelty act does not necessarily have to be humorous.
Singing - Female, Male In each case we are looking for singing talent. The singer will sing one song. A backing track may be used, the singer may sing unaccompanied, play their own instrument, or have 1 musician (club host/hostess) accompany them. No marks are awarded for the musical element The focus here is on the Singer alone. Group of Singers The Group (2 or more) will sing one song/tune, or a medley of songs/tunes, within the 4 minute time limit. No backing track assistance is allowed. The group can use instruments, or sing unaccompanied. The song/tune can come from any genre (eg. Pop, Traditional Irish, Rock, Country, Opera etc.). There is no additional set up time allowed for this category so we urge all participants to simplify their arrangements in order to avoid delays getting on stage. Solo Dance This involves a single dancer performing a piece of dance drawn from any one or several of the various Dance types (Pop, Hip-Hop, Traditional Irish, Rap, Jive, Ballet, Tango etc.). In fact, any dance genre is permitted. Backing tracks OR live musical accompaniment are allowed but no marks are awarded for the musical element. Time limit = 4 min max. Blow us away with your talent, ingenuity and teamwork. All Club s must include at least one third of your club s members on stage in the Musical Cameo. Props are allowed but again we warn groups that there is only a 1-minute time allowance for set-up so they will need to be capable of quick set-up. Adult leaders may support the Cameo from back/side stage, if they wish. Once the cameo has commenced, liaising with the lighting and sound personnel can only be done by a host/hostess.
Musical Composition Are you a song writer, a rapper, or a composer? Have you created an original piece of music (not an interpretation of an existing piece)? The piece may be sung (if a song), rapped (to original music/backing track, or no music) or played (if a musical score) by the songwriter/rapper/composer, or by one or more Hosts/Hostesses. The award will go to the songwriter/rapper/composer. Two Minute Film This element of our Talent Competition is an effort to involve Hosts and Hostesses that may not necessarily want to perform on stage. Many young people now are constantly recording short films and posting them on YouTube and Facebook etc. We want your club to put together a short film (2 minutes long max.). The theme is to be: The Pros of Social Media OR The Cons of Social Media. At least 5 members of your club have to feature in the film clip. Your finished Film is to be posted on YouTube. Please email the URL (i.e. Website address of your film) to adoyle@nonameclub.ie. Please do not use your Club name or No Name Club in your title to ensure only staff in the office can access your film until after the closing date, no changes may take place to your submitted film entry after the closing date. Members can seek advice from others but all work (filming, sound recording, graphics, acting etc.) has to be the work of the clubs Hosts & Hostesses. Each club chairperson will have to certify to this requirement. A club may submit up to two entries if they wish to do so. All entries will be sent a confirmation e-mail that their entry has been received.
