GUIDE TO AUXMU QUALIFICATION I. INTRODUCTION Fllwing typical Auxiliary PQS (Perfrmance Qualificatin System) prtcl, the Auxiliary Musician ( AUXMU ) Qualificatin Prgram is the prcedure t verify if a musician pssesses the minimum criteria required t meet the AUXMU3, AUXMU2, AUXMU1 and/r AUXMU QE qualificatin. All Auxiliary qualificatins (Bat Crew, cxswain, instructr, interpreter, VE, MDV, watch stander etc.) require a demnstratin f capability witnessed by smene already qualified in rder t cmplete the qualificatin. In the music wrld this is similar t a music adjudicatin. There are three critical cmpnents t public music perfrmance fr AUXMU which must be demnstrated. They are: Wearing the Cast Guard Auxiliary unifrm crrectly Grming cnfrming t the USCG Auxiliary requirements Musical perfrmance meets a minimum quality threshld The Standard Operating Prcedure (SOP) establishes three levels f AUXMU plus the AUXMU QE (Qualifying Examiner). The three AUXMU levels (3, 2 and 1) are mdeled ff f the New Yrk State Schl Music Assciatin NYSSMA ratings (level 3, 4 and 5). The AUXMU ranking parallels ther military and public affairs levels where 1 is the highest rating (e.g. Public Affairs Specialist 3 = PA3 and Petty Officer 1 st Class = PO1 ). The QE has achieved the highest quality standard (AUXMU1) and shuld have musical adjudicatin training such as that prvided by NYSSMA r yur state s equivalent. The first AUXMU QEs were qualified by members f the Cast Guard Band. The qualificatin signff sheets fr each AUXMU grade are in the AUXMU SOP. This guide clarifies sme ambiguities that have been identified in the SOP and as well as additinal detail and lgistics fr the AUXMU qualificatin. Updated signff sheets that reflect these clarificatins are prvided in this guide as Attachments (B-E). Please use these in lieu f the nes in the SOP. If there are further questins, please email yur questin t Jhn Sass at jsass@ptnline.net. II. DIRECTIONS & CLARIFICATIONS 1. A.
