PUBLISHED BY THE DISTRICT 28 MUSIC PARENTS CLUB SUMMER 2010 Dear Music Parents, Musical Notes The President s Refrain I hope you ve had an enjoyable summer. Hopefully your summer was filled with beautiful music perhaps your child practiced their instrument several times or maybe you were fortunate to take in some concerts. I look forward to the start of another great year of music. For those parents just starting out in Beginning Band or Orchestra, your child is embarking on a beautiful musical journey which if you are lucky will last for many years. The Music Parents Club is comprised of parents of music students. Every music family is automatically a member of the Music Parents Club. We meet on the 2 nd Wednesday of the month at 11:45 a.m. and our meetings usually last an hour. Our meetings are listed in the district calendar. Included in this newsletter is the parent volunteer form. It takes a lot of work for the MPC to run smoothly. Please consider volunteering a little of your time - even if you can only spare an hour. Every little bit helps, plus you ll get the opportunity to meet other great music parents. Our Annual Fundraiser The Wreath & Coffee Sale, will begin on September 20th. The ever popular Spin the Wheel will be offered as a sales incentive. We hope you will encourage your child to participate in selling. This fundraiser pays for so many wonderful enrichment programs offered to all of our student musicians. It benefits ALL age levels of the co-curricular music programs of band, choir and orchestra. Our first meeting is on Wednesday, September 8 th at 11:45 a.m. in the Homer O. Harvey Room in the District 28 office. We invite you to check out what MPC is all about. All are welcome we d love for you to join us!
