This is the perfect class for those with little or no stage experience! In a fun and supportive atmosphere, each participant will have help choosing and learning a song, working with the microphone, developing stage presence, and interpreting lyrics for any style of music. Performance is encouraged but not required. Students may choose music from of any style: pop, jazz, folk, rock, Broadway, etc. Great American Songbook sing it like you mean it Instructor Anne Phillips w/ Matt Perri Week 1 MWF 5:30-7:20 pm Week 2 MW 5:30-7:20 pm Choose from hundreds of songs amid the riches of the Great American Songbook.Think Irving Berlin, Mercer, Porter, Arlen. These are the American standards: classically structured songs, easy to learn and hard to forget, lending themselves to myriad arrangements and interpretations. Performance experience recommended. You ll spend time getting comfortable with a microphone, working on how to interpret the lyrics of your song, and learning how to make it your own. This is the class for the more advanced singer. If you have any experience singing for an audience, this is the class for you. Just Jazz the singer as jazz musician Instructor Anne Phillips w/matt Perri Week 1 MWF 7:30-9:20 pm Week 2 MW 7:30-9:20 pm This is the realm of singing with no ceiling. The repertoire comes from standards, Latin jazz, bebop and/or progressive jazz styles. This class is recommended for advanced singers or intermediate singers ready to challenge themselves in a new way.. First City Players can help you choose the song that s right for you, and we ll help you find the sheet music, too.
