Operating the RC-610 Front Panel Controls and Status LEDs DELAY INACTIVE DELAY ACTIVE 3.5 SECONDS 7.5 SECONDS EXIT DELAY START DELAY COUGH DUMP PROFANITY FEATURE NAME WHAT IT DOES Status LEDs DELAY INACTIVE Indicates that the 610 has been forced into a bypass state. This can happen automatically as a result of the EXIT DELAY function or manually as a result of moving the STATUS button on the front panel of the 610 to the BYPASS position. DELAY ACTIVE Indicates activation of the START DELAY function. 3.5 SECONDS Indicates that 3.5 seconds of delay has been built into the program audio. 7.5 SECONDS Indicates that 7.5 seconds of delay has been built into the program audio. Push Button Controls EXIT DELAY Initiates the gradual reduction of delay time. Several minutes before the end of the show, press this button to have the Symetrix 610 time compress the program audio until there is nothing left in its memory (zero seconds delay). At this point the program is back in real-time and the 610 automatically removes itself from the signal path. This button blinks as long as delay time is decreasing. Its light switches off when zero delay is achieved. You can download the Symetrix 610 Br oadcast Audio Delay User s Guide from www.symetrixaudio.com 5

Operating the RC-610 Front Panel Controls and Status LEDs continued FEATURE NAME WHAT IT DOES Push Button Controls continued START DELAY Initiates the gradual increase of delay time. Press this button when a radio talk show begins. The light of this button blinks for as long as delay time is increasing. The light shines steady once full delay time (7.5 seconds) is achieved. See Appendix C in the Symetrix 610 Broadcast Audio Delay User s Guide for more information. COUGH DUMP PROFANITY Mutes the incoming signal while allowing the output signal to play (uninterrupted) from the 610 s memory. You can cough, have a quick drink of water, or make a comment to the producer or engineer without any perceptible program interruption. When you press this button, the 610 plays from memory. If you press this button for a period of time that exceeds the amount of delay available, then there will be dead air for the excess (muted output). When you release the button, the 610 automatically begins to refill the memory. Plays delayed programming stored in memory to prevent unwanted audio from reaching the airwaves. As the program begins, the 610 gradually and unobtrusively delays or stretches out the program until 7.5 seconds of stereo audio is stored in memory. When you press this button, the memory is cleared. Then the 610 automatically begins to stretch (time expand) the program audio again until it attains the full 7.5 second delay. See Appendix C of the 610 Broadcast Audio Delay User s Guide for details on how to select between a full memory dump or a half memory 3.75 second dump. You can download the Symetrix 610 Br oadcast Audio Delay User s Guide from www.symetrixaudio.com 6
