The dedication and diligence of each member is evident in the ever improving level of artistry displayed in each performance. The Sammamish Symphony Orchestra's 2008/2009 season offers a dynamic array of music selections from traditional works to new favorites. The entire family will enjoy performances such as Rimski-Korsakov's lush Scheherazade; Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf (narrated King FM "Classic Kids' announcer, Marta Zekan); Tchaikovsky's rousing Capriccio Italien; and a host of popular music included on our Holiday Pops concert in December and our Music Around the World Pops concert in June. JOSEPH SCOTT Jonathan Feil - Brass Kristin Edlund - Violins Andy Hill - Low Strings Shannon Nelson - Woodwinds native of Eastern Oregon, R. Joseph Scott has been a dynamic leader in the Northwest musical community for over 40 years. He attended the University of Oregon, School of Music and studied conducting with Eugene Furst and Wolfgang Martin of the Portland Opera. CONCERT PROGRAM After relocating to Seattle, Mr. Scott continued his studies with Henry Holt of the Seattle Opera, Mikael Scheremetiew of the Thalia Conservatory, and Vilem Sokol of the Seattle Youth Symphony. He founded the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra, serving as Music Director, Conductor and General Manager from 1967-1997. He is currently observing his 10th year with the Sammamish Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Scott is Resident Conductor of Lyric Opera Northwest, and has appeared with numerous musical ensembles, including the Bellevue Opera. He has conducted world premieres of works by Alan Hovhaness, Vaclav Nelhybel and various regional composers. 2

In 1976 the idea of Issaquah Singers was hatched over a card table by a few friends who wanted to share the joy of creating music. As when the group first began, auditions are not required for membership. All members, including the director and accompanist, are volunteers, devoting many hours to perform music for those who otherwise would not be able to hear live concerts. Although most of the choir's music is from the height of the vocal jazz era of the 1930's and 1940's, the choir also performs earlier and more recent works--folk songs, rock and roll, Broadway and contemporary popular tunes. Any song that is uplifting and brings a smile is a potential Issaquah Singers tune. The choir is conducted by Dorothy Hay and Susan Lord serves as the accompanist. Issaquah Singers is partially funded by a grant from the City of Issaquah Arts Commission. The Boeing Employees Choir has been bringing the gift of music to audiences around the Puget Sound and throughout the world for more than 60 years. We perform up to 20 concerts annually, under the direction of Conductor Michael Kysar, and our musical palette ranges from Bach to Broadway. The choir is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
