Welcome! Dear Music Director, How can we do more with less? This was the theme of a recent church choir workshop I held, and one that I m sure resonates strongly with most of you. As directors, we are constantly trying to fi nd ways to make sure that the choir members have an edifying experience every Sunday. When the choir is small, this is sometimes much easier said than done. It is certainly possible, however, and I think that it starts with us being realistic when it comes to our expectations for the choir and what they can do well given the amount of rehearsal time we have. It s imperative that we strive for balance between expectations and realism. We want to motivate and inspire our choir members to be all that God has called them to be while also helping them maintain and strengthen their oy in the Lord and His service.
