Totality occurs when the Moon completely obscures Sun so only the solar corona is showing. The longest a total solar eclipse can last is 7.5 minutes. During a total solar eclipse, conditions in the path of totality can change quickly. Air temperatures drop and the immediate area becomes dark. If any planets are in the sky at the time of a total solar eclipse, they can be seen as points of light. Drop in craft: Make an eclipse viewer! Make a special viewer so you can watch the Eclipse. Our new self-check machines What s going on? Libraries are in the final stages of applying RFID tags to all library items. What do the tags look like? We use square tags on most items and circular tags on discs. Can I remove the tag? No. Removing the tag will damage the item and may result in charges to your account. These tags are passive and will not affect equipment at retail stores or airports. The discs will play properly in their devices. What s next? We are starting to use RFID technology at our circulation desks and soon we will install new self-checkout machines. If you have any questions, please ask us. libraryassistants@ci.sandy.or.us
