The Up And Coming Weekly Newspaper Reports an Evening of Entertainment with National R&B Recording Artist GREGORY. Singer to headline Ambiance show by Andrea Pantelic R&B Vocalist and National Recording artist Gregory will headline an evening of entertainment at The Ambiance Entertainment Venue on Friday, March 30th 2007 at 7:30 PM. Although he is primarily a Smooth R&B Artist, Gregory s music is sometimes described as jazz, and his CDs may appear in either section in stores. He said he mostly writes love songs. His grandmother was one of the four Cummings sisters, the first Black Female group to release an album in Ohio. Gregory now lives in Cleveland. I ve been around music for a long time, and my family has been around music, he said. My mother and aunts would play for us these 33 (size records), 78 and 45s, which would leave my siblings and I in aw. Locally, he has performed at Club It z, Gotham City, Chief s 25 Plus and The House of R&B night Clubs. His current singles, Once In A :Lifetime Love and Forever And Always, are on a 16-week rotation in 25 cities. The songs are from his latest album, Love s Triangle. We are getting a lot of rave reviews from Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Miami, and now that Carolina is in the mix, it s even better, he said.. He writes and produces the vast majority of his work. Gregory, whose full name is Gregory Smith, works two days a week as a Physician Associate at a Children s clinic on Owen Drive. He has attended at least four different universities. Studying has been something I ve done forever, it seems, he said. Gregory worked at Womack Army Medical Center with a medical contract company, and he said he made many friends and contacts who still want to see his music career succeed. At Womack, he worked in Internal Medicine and Primary Care for adults, and General Pediatric Medicine. Medicine is something I aspired to since age 6, he said. I was fascinated by the environments. I remember I was lying on my back in the hospital when I woke up after surgery, I was like, Who is that guy and what is that thing on his head? My parents responded by saying, that s the doctor that removed your tonsils. At that point I knew that s what I wanted to do. Gregory said his passions for music and medicine are not related, but they balance him out. He uses a six- or seven-piece band, and his recordings use live musicians in the studios. I play the keyboard but not nearly like the musicians I perform with, he said. The show also features two comics, R&B, hiphop, country music and light jazz acts, poetry reading and dancers from Fayetteville State University. You are getting a little bit of everything, with a night cap of smooth jazz and R&B with me, he said. It will be kind of cool. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are only $25.00 and are available at The Fayetteville Press Newspaper, FSU s Seabrook Auditorium ticket window, at The Piece Entertainment Magazine, at Radio Station 104.5 FM; at Gregory s website www.gregoryforlove.com or at Ambiance.
