Parent Packet for GIANTS IN THE SKY Welcome to WIS Show Stopper s 2018 production of GIANTS IN THE SKY! This will be a full scale musical theater production with acting, singing and dancing. Giants in the Sky is a magical story that explores the world of Giants who live above the clouds. Ever since they left Earth a long time ago, the Giants have made a life up above where their job is to keep the sky beautiful. They polish the stars, poke the clouds to let it rain and paint the sunsets. But there is one curious Giant who wonders what life is like on Earth, so she steals a key to the locked up beanstalk and embarks on an adventure down below! AUDITIONS: Full participation is necessary for a production. If your child can t commit to this schedule, please do not allow them to audition. Students may audition for Lead Roles or Ensemble Auditions for lead roles will be on Thursday January 4th All other cast members will audition on Friday, January 5th Sign ups for auditions will be in the main office. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENT SIGNS UP FOR A TIME. Students must bring a signed permission slip to auditions to be considered for this production (see attached) Costume, t-shirt, and cast party fee of $40.00 should be turned into the main office when your student signs up for auditions December 20th - January 4th. You may NOT audition without a permission slip. Please review the cast roles to help your child determine which (if any) role they would like to audition for. Students need to indicate on their audition form whether they are auditioning for a Lead Role or Ensemble. Ensemble Auditions: Sing Happy Birthday or any song from the show ALL Lead Roles: Sing a song that features your student s voice. This is a school production and every student that auditions will be part of the production.
REHEARSALS : If your child cannot commit to this schedule, please do not allow them to audition. ALL rehearsals are mandatory and run Monday, Tuesday, Thursdays, and Fridays from 3:30-5:30 p.m., unless otherwise specified. Please bring a ½ 3- ring binder for scripts & proper shoes to move/dance (no Uggs/ boots). Please make sure to provide your email address on the form as all communications will be done through email. You should receive a test email at the beginning of January. Please reply. We will collect a $25 costume/set fee and Cast party/t shirt $15 fee all at once. A check for $40 should be made out to WIS ShowStoppers and brought to Main Office by January 15th. 8 Week Schedule: January 4 th to March 2 nd Auditions: Thursday, January 4 th and Friday, January 5 th First is currently Monday, January 8 th with Parent Meeting at 5:00 pm Thursday January 11th music rehearsal Friday January 12th will be the first read through * on Tuesday, January 9 th or 10th (Chorus Dress for Chorus concert on 10 th ) school: January 15 th, February 15 th, 16 th and 19 th. Dress and Cast Pizza Party: Friday, March 2 nd Show dates: Saturday, March 3 rd at 4:00 and Sunday, March 4 th at 2:00 Please review these guidelines and important information with your child. All children are to be ready and on time to every rehearsal. If your child will be absent please email wisproducer1@gmail.com to REPORT THEIR ABSENCE. Please note: more than 2 unexcused absences will result in exclusion from the performance. Children may bring a NUT FREE snack and drink to each rehearsal. Children are expected to keep the Cafetorium and stage area clean at ALL TIMES. The week of February 26th - March 2nd is TECH WEEK. All students are required to be at rehearsals every day after school - no exceptions. Parents: There will be a parent meeting on Monday, January 8th at 5:00 pm. It will be a good time to SIGN UP to chair a committee or work on a committee. Committees are: Costumes, Scenery/Props,Hair/Makeup, Tickets, Dressing, Room Monitors, Photo/DVD Sales, Refreshment Table or The Cast Pizza Party.
