Last Wednesday, Year 12 went to the Learn-2-Live roadshow at Plymouth Pavilions. This hard-hitting event is aimed at raising awareness of carelessness when driving for young people across the city. Many professionals spoke to Post 16 students recounting stories of tragic accidents they had attended. This was an event that used shocking material to show probable causes. The show of accidents on the road was not aimed at finding blame and scaring students but highlighting dangers and responsibility.

Our very bubbly year group fell to silence as more speakers gave their view and perspective; ending with a parent who had lost her child while on a cycle ride and a teenager whose life had been altered forever due to his need to fit in. Our students were a credit to the school and themselves as they left digesting the information. A heart-warming afternoon today. I don't normally get upset or emotional but it was hard to hear the recollections of those tragic events that those wonderful people had to go through. I would like to thank them all for speaking to me and all of us and thanks Coombe Dean for taking us there and enlightening us. - Post 16 students, Ben C. Results: Friday 20 th November 2015 Lizard 0 3 Godrevy Eddystone 0 1 Longships Lizard 0 5 Longships Eddystone 1 0 Godrevy Lizard 1 0 Eddystone Longships 0 1 Godrevy Longships 15pts Won 2 (GD + 5) Godrevy 10 pts Won 2 (GD + 3) Eddystone 5 pts Won 1 (GD 1) Lizard 0 pts Won 1 (GD 7) A competitive edge in all six fixtures were evident on a cold and blustery Friday lunchtime on the Astro Pitch. Five minute matches were played with many teams using their substitutions regularly. Longships adopted an attacking display from the start, with many shots on goal in the first match to see them defeat a well organised Eddystone defence. Godrevy made the most of defensive errors in their drubbing of Lizard. The second matches, with Longships defeat of Lizard and Eddystone scoring a last gasp winner against Godrevy, meant that in the final round any of three teams could take the title. Very close final games resulted in Longships greater goal difference placing them at the top of the league, despite Lizard s much improved performance to beat a determined and energetic Eddystone team. Well done to those players and supporters and many thanks to Mr Weymouth for refereeing the fixtures. These points will be added to the whole school Inter-Guild league table. N Bennett
