INSTRUMENTAL & CO-CURRICULAR MUSIC PROGRAM 2017

YEAR Music Specialist Program

Transcription:

Immanuel College has a highly regarded music program consisting of practical and theoretical studies, and numerous extra-curricular ensembles encompassing strings, woodwind, brass, percussion, guitar and voice. Immanuel College is pleased to be able to offer a number of Music Scholarships in 2019 for students who demonstrate outstanding music skills and/or potential in Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Brass, Woodwind, Percussion, Guitar, Piano or Voice. Awarding of a scholarship provides a percentage reduction of tuition fees for the duration of the student s enrolment, subject to satisfactory progress each year. There is no minimum performance standard for entry. Immanuel College is keen to provide an opportunity for students who may not have completed practical exams and who display great potential at a young age. Some theoretical background would be an advantage but is not a pre-requisite. STRING SCHOLARSHIPS Scholarships will be offered in the area of STRINGS in 2019. Students need to demonstrate outstanding musical skills and/or potential on either VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO or DOUBLE BASS. GENERAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS Scholarships will be offered in 2019 for students demonstrating outstanding musical skills and/ or potential in the area of BRASS, WOODWIND, PERCUSSION, GUITAR, PIANO or VOICE. ELIGIBILITY Non-Immanuel students in Year 6, 7, 8 or 9 in 2018, Immanuel Primary School students enrolled in Year 6 in 2018, and Immanuel College students enrolled in Year 7 in 2018. These scholarships are not available for students currently attending Immanuel College in Years 8 onwards.

AUDITIONS Following the closing date, a short list will be compiled and selected applicants will then be contacted by phone to be allocated an audition time. Auditions will be held in the Immanuel College Music Centre early in Term One, 2018. ACCOMPANIST Applicants are encouraged to perform with their own accompanist if they have previously rehearsed the audition pieces. If a regular accompanist is not available at the time of audition, one of the Immanuel Music staff will be available and can rehearse with the student on the day. Please indicate as soon as possible if this is required and be able to supply a copy of the accompaniment music well in advance of the audition time in the correct key and clearly indicating repeats etc. If a student has never played with an accompanist, it is quite acceptable to perform unaccompanied. AUDITION REQUIREMENTS Applicants selected for audition will be required to perform two contrasting pieces on their principal instrument. The pieces selected should reflect the range of the student s abilities. Appropriate sight reading and aural skills may also be assessed at the audition.
