CELEBRATE MUSIC, CELEBRATE EARTH GARDEN In the European Capital of Culture Island, Malta Welcome to Earth Garden Festival, the annual open air non-mainstream music festival held at the Malta National Park, Ta Qali. The Festival features five different music stages namely: Roots Stage, Enchanted Forest, Electronic Sphere, Strawberry Hill, the live Jamming Area, two naturally shaded Campsites, the Ethnic Market, Healing Fields, world cuisine and the kids area. Retaining the green footprint and eclectic music styles, it features over 40 international acts and the music styles played at the festival vary from world music, blues, jazz, funk, ska, dub, reggae, psychedelic and alternative rock, gypsy punk, psychedelic trance n dub, techno, acid, house, ambient, electro, drum n bass and more.

ONE LOVE, ONE CUP! Pioneers in sustainable festivals Once again we will use the Reusable Cup System. There are 3 cup sizes and for a minimum partially refundable deposit of 0.60c, we will be saving Mother-Earth from harmful waste. There will be washing stations around the Festival grounds that can be used to clean the cups. We invite you to embrace this new initiative, and help us in doing our bit and generate less waste!

MALTA S ALTERNATIVE FESTIVAL

ROOTS STAGE This year s edition will see mostly foreign acts, thus as pledged, Earth Garden is becoming more of an international Festival. More appropriately this year since the Festival is also part of the cultural programme of Malta s European Capital of Culture 2018. ELECTRONIC SPHERE More reasons to dance, celebrate music and enjoy the sun as seven foreign DJs featuring on this stage, including techno legend Regis, acid master Luke Vibert, trance veterans Etnika and DJ Antaro! Notice for all campers: do not miss out on our morning sessions!

ENCHANTED FOREST The Enchanted Forest is an area that has been there from the first edition and is still loyal to the original concept. Situated next to the colourful Ethnic Market, the Enchanted Forrest is the heart and soul of the Festival. MUSIC PLAYGROUND A revamped Jamming Area! With electronic artists becoming so talented, we want to offer a set up where they can join in the jam with effects, loopers and synthesized music that they are more familiar with. Music workshops and other activities, such as a music library will be hosted by Music Playground. HEALING FIELDS Another revamped area, relocated to a larger secluded area. Besides workshops there will be Healing Therapies, an Acro-Yoga Playground, Art Haven, Pop-up Installations and Trees of Life. Hosted by WhyNot? CAMPING SITES Two campsites: The Festive Grove, found in the heart of the festival area and Green Meadows situated in the perimeter of the festival grounds. More reasons to camp as we introduce the morning sessions! Don t miss out, be part of the beating heart of Earth Garden!

STRAWBERRY HILL After last year s successful introduction of Strawberry Hill, as new stage, the obvious step was to include more foreign acts to the line-up and have more music sessions. ETHNIC MARKET The Ethnic Market offers a walk through the stands filled with handmade creations amidst a colourful array of unique and attractive designs within a free-spirited atmosphere. FOOD COURT Tease your taste buds! In the food court area one finds an array of stands providing different world cuisine dishes, as well as, vegetarian and healthy options. Definitely not the typical fast food. FUN PARK The Fun Park featuring a range of game and activities that promises to be amusing and entertaining.

FEATURED ARTISTS Earth Garden features over 60 local and international artists. Here are our headliners: GENTLEMAN S DUB CLUB U.K. Roots Stage, Friday 23.55 Gentleman s Dub Club initially came together as a dub band, having been inspired by the scene in Leeds. Merging together dub, ska, reggae and electronic influences, it didn t take long for the infectious sounds of GDC to become widespread, with their debut EP Members Only taking the number one spot on the itunes Reggae charts. K.O.G & THE ZONGO BRIGADE U.K & AFRICA Roots Stage, Saturday 21.05 Under the leadership of Kweku Sackey a.k.a Ghanaian force of nature K.O.G, the 8-piece Zongo brigade deliver infectious, highenergy West African grooves, drawing on afro-beat, soul, funk, rock and reggae to create a totally original sound that leaves every crowd dripping with sweat and begging for more.

THE TURBANS EUROPE & MIDDLE EAST Roots Stage, Sunday 19.30 International music adventurers, The Turbans, bind together music from manywhere, igniting audiences with the bacchanalian spirit of the Eastern Mediterranean. Drawing on the rich cultural heritage of both the Levantine and Balkan regions, they create original music for the 21st century, inspired by ancient melodies. WILD MARMALADE AUSTRALIA Roots Stage, Friday 21.30 Australian band Wild Marmalade are the pioneers of the didgeridoo and drum sound that is now a global phenomena. From their humble origins as street entertainers in the late 90 s they have taken their unique brand of didgeridoo and drum dance music to stages, clubs and festivals the world over. LAKUTA EUROPE & AFRICA Roots Stage, Saturday 22.30 With members hailing from Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Malaysia and mainland Europe, Lakuta is a truly global mix of musicians who draw on a deep love of jazz, funk, afrobeat and tropical music to create a fierce, driving sound. Signed to Tru Thoughts, the ensemble reference a wide range of genres in their writing, blending traditional instruments with a modern, hard-hitting sound.

MOHAMMAD REZA MORTAZAVI IRAN Roots Stage, Sunday 20.35 Starting at the age of nine, the Persian musician and composer has come a long way from winning Tonbak competitions in his home country to performing at big important festivals, concerts and theatres such as Roskilde Festival, Womad, Berliner Philharmonie, Shangai World Music Festival and many others. NICKY BOMBA & THE MALTA SKA ORCHESTRA AUSTRALIA - MALTA Roots Stage, Sunday 00.00 Nicky Bomba is a Maltese- Australian musician, singer & songwriter based in Australia. Our Maltese-Aussie friend, will perform at Earth Garden Festival this year for the 3rd time due to popular demand, in collaboration with Mark Kram & The Malta Ska Orchestra. CUSHION MALTA Roots Stage, Friday 19.30 Cushion, an Indian Fusion band based in Malta, offers a very interesting and mesmerizing mid tempo fusion of western and eastern music, mostly inclined towards the sound of India, with dominant sitar licks, eastern inclinations on vocal threads, backed with sublime ambience from the keys, and interesting drum and bass patterns to wrap it all up.

REGIS U.K. Electronic Sphere, Saturday 21.00 Karl O Connor is most certainly Regis and it s also highly probable that he propagates other pseudonyms. This has only added to the greater mythology surrounding the influential Downwards label that he has run with fellow art terrorist Peter Sutton (Female) since 1993. BRIKKUNI MALTA Roots Stage, Thursday 21.30 Often credited with the revival of Maltese sung pop music, Brikkuni have been around since their seminal 2008 debut Kuntrabanda an album which took the local music scene by surprise and transformed the band into a cult phenomenon. They have since released a further two albums Trabokk (2012) and their latest Rub Al Khali (2017). LUKE VIBERT U.K. Electronic Sphere, Friday 20.30 Luke Vibert is a British recording artist and producer known for his work in many subgenres of electronic music. Vibert began his musical career as a member of the Hate Brothers, only later branching out into his own compositions. Vibert has recorded under several different aliases, most notably Plug and Wagon Christ.
