BLACKADDER NEWS RELEASE ISSUE DATE 28th JANUARY 2010 THE 2009 MALT MANIACS AWARDS 10 medals awarded for Blackadder and Clydesdale whiskies! As in past years, Blackadder continued to add to its medal haul. There was no top award this year (we surely cannot expect to receive one of them every year!) such as the 2008 Daily Dram award won by Blackadder Amrut. However, it is significant to point out that Blackadder and Clydesdale whiskies between them won a total of 10 medals this year, 5 silver and 5 bronze. This means that more than 5% of all medals were won by one of the smallest companies entered in the competition. Even more significant, perhaps, is the fact that, over the years the Malt Maniacs have been making their awards, this company has probably won more medals than any other whisky company. Nb. Other past awards have included: 2005; Supreme Sherry Cask Award for the Best Sherry Cask Whisky of the year for our Sherry Cask Blairfindy: 2006; the Love-It-Or- Hate It Award for Blackadder Smoking Islay: 2007; Blackadder Raw Cask Sherry Cask Glen Grant 36 year old 1970 (bottled 2006) from cask ref: 7216 the Supreme Sherry Cask Award in the Ultra Premium section. Our first two Riverstown bottlings: The return of an old favourite Blackadder is proud to announce the re-introduction of A Drop of the Irish. We have a spirited new Celtic design and logo which we hope you will like. We will be offering a variety of different cask selections of Irish Whiskey under this trademark, starting with a remarkable Peated Single Malt Whiskey.
Blackadder Rum deals Another new introduction for 2010 is the Blackadder range of Cask Selection Rums. See our separate release for more information.
Last, but by no means least! Our Raw Cask series continues to go from strength to strength. Launched in 2000 as the first truly non filtered and non coloured selection of single cask whiskies, the whiskies in this series have won numerous medals; gold, silver and bronze, in the much sought after Malt Maniacs Awards. Sold only through specialist whisky shops and importers it is now a significant brand in countries as far apart as Japan, Taiwan, The Netherlands, Germany and Sweden to name just five of the many markets to appreciate this brand. Look out for more exciting Raw Cask releases during 2010 as well as a full selection of new Clydesdale Original whiskies! A note on ordering: We strongly recommend ordering from our pre-release lists. Apart from the fact that there are worthwhile price discounts on offer when ordering in this way, you will also avoid the disappointment of missing out on some of our most in demand bottlings. Certain whiskies should always be pre-ordered well in advance. These include Blackadder Smoking Islay, Blackadder Peat Reek and the Blackadder Amrut whiskies. Some will inevitably be limited and we may have to make allocations in certain cases.
