SCENIC DESIGNER 1. The Scenic Designer is responsible for all visual appearance and function of the scenic elements used in the production. 2. The Scenic Designer artistically collaborates with the Director, Choreographer (if applicable), Costume Designer, Lighting Designer, and the Producer in the development of the production concept. 3. The Scenic Designer is responsible for understanding the scenic design concept as conceived by the Director. 4. The Scenic Designer is responsible for researching visual impressions that relate to the production concept, and prior to the creation of the scenic design, present the visual impressions to the Director and company at a production meeting. 5. The Scenic Designer is responsible for creating a complete set of renderings/sketches, and/or scaled model, and Ground plan of the settings for the production. These visual presentations will be shown at a production meeting to the Director and company. 6. The Scenic Designer is responsible for supplying working drawings in ½ scale, specifications for construction and color schemes or renderings/sketches by the date specified by the Faculty Producers. 7. The Scenic Designer is responsible for the design, selection or approval of properties required for the production, including draperies and furniture. 8. The Scenic Designer is responsible for designing and/or coordinating special scenic effects for the production, including but not limited to slides and projections. 9. The Scenic Designer is to understand that this is a "hands on" design position which requires assistance in all aspect of the design and production process including carpentry, painting, and prop construction. 10. The Scenic Designer is responsible for establishing a working relationship with the scene shop, paint shop, and prop staff. 11. The Scenic Designer is responsible for keeping updated on all scenery/set notes that are in the rehearsal reports. 12. The Scenic Designer is required to attend all production meetings and dress rehearsals. 2

COSTUME DESIGNER 1. The Costume Designer is responsible for creating the look of each character in the production by designing clothing and accessories the actors will wear in performance. The costumes need to faithfully reflect the personalities of the characters in the script in collaboration with the Director s concept. 2. The Costume Designer artistically collaborates with the Director, Choreographer (if applicable), Scenic Designer, Lighting Designer, and the Producer in the development of the production concept. 3. The Costume Designer is responsible for understanding the costume design concept as conceived by the Director. 4. The Costume Designer is responsible for researching the costume design, including hats, shoes, and accessories as needed, and then bringing visual presentations to a production meeting. 5. The Costume Designer is responsible for the creation of a complete set of sketches and/or representations necessary for the execution of the costume design. These visual presentations will be shown at a production meeting to the Director and company. 6. The Costume Designer is responsible for creating and developing an accurate, detailed costume plot, and preliminary itemized garment list. 7. The Costume Designer is responsible for all areas of the design process including research, renderings, swatching, shopping, renting, borrowing, pulling form stock, and being present at all actor fittings. 8. The Costume Designer is to understand that this is a "hands on" design position which requires assistance in all aspect of the design and production process including hand and machine sewing. 9. The Costume Designer is responsible for selecting appropriate costumes from stock, rental or other resources, and coordinates their adaptation for the production. 10. The Costume Designer is responsible for the hair and wig design, and make-up design of each character in the production. 11. The Costume Designer is responsible for establishing a working relationship with the costume shop staff. 12. The Costume Designer is responsible for keeping updated on all costume notes that are in the rehearsal reports. 13. The Costume Designer is required to attend all production meetings and dress rehearsals. 3

14. The Costume Designer is responsible for understanding the Petty Cash process and system. 15. The Costume Designer is accountable for the petty cash dispersed, and understands that all receipts must be turned in. 4

LIGHTING DESIGNER 1. The Lighting Designer is responsible for the visual lighting aspects of the production, and at its most basic, the Lighting Designer is responsible for making the actors and their environments visible to the audience. 2. The Lighting Designer artistically collaborates with the Director, Choreographer (if applicable), Scenic Designer, Costume Designer, and the Producer in the development of the production concept. 3. The Lighting Designer is responsible for researching visual impressions that relate to the production concept, and prior to the creation of the lighting design, present the visual impressions to the Director and company at a production meeting. 4. The Lighting Designer is responsible for the creation and development of the light plot and all the necessary paperwork including the instrument schedule, hook up sheet, and magic sheet as needed, by the date specified by the Faculty Producers. 5. The Lighting Designer is responsible for the selection of the gels and the gobos, if applicable, needed for the design. 6. The Lighting Designer is responsible for the focus of all the lighting instruments for the show. 7. The Lighting Designer is to understand that this is a "hands on" design position which requires assistance in all aspect of the design and production process including hang and focus. 8. The Lighting Designer is responsible for setting all the light cues for the lighting design including spotlight cues if applicable. 9. The Lighting Designer is responsible for providing the lighting cues to the Stage Manager prior to the level setting tech. rehearsal. 10. The Lighting Designer is responsible for any pyrotechnical or special effects needed for the production if applicable. 11. The Lighting Designer is responsible for keeping updated on all lighting notes that are in the rehearsal reports. 12. The Lighting Designer is required to attend all production meetings, hang and focus times, technical rehearsals, and dress rehearsals. 5

SOUND DESIGNER 1. The Sound Designer is responsible for the auditory aspects of the production. 2. The Sound Designer artistically collaborates with the Director in the development of the sound production concept. 3. The Sound Designer is responsible for designing a sound delivery system that will properly execute the needs of the production including all sound effects, live and/or recorded. 4. The Sound Designer is responsible for creating and setting up the sound design for the production. 5. The Sound Designer is responsible for all sound reinforcement incorporated in the production (microphones, body microphones/lavalieres, etc.). 6. If applicable, the Sound Designer is responsible for the orchestra pit audio requirements and needs such as monitors, reinforcement, etc. 7. The Sound Designer is responsible for mixing the front of house sound system. 8. The Sound Designer is responsible for the creation and implementation of the pre-show and post-show soundtrack material. 9. The Sound Designer is to understand that this is a "hands on" design position which requires assistance in all aspect of the design and production process in the creation of the Sound Design including the set-up and running of sound cable. 10. The Sound Designer is responsible for the creation and development of the sound plot in collaboration with the Director of the production. 11. The Sound Designer is responsible for providing the sound cues to the Stage Manager prior to the Level Setting tech. rehearsal. 12. The Sound Designer is responsible for working with the Technical Director and Lighting Designer in the event speakers or other audio equipment is needed within scenery pieces and/or mounted above in the grid, battens, or light ladders. 13. The Sound Designer is required to attend all production meetings, technical rehearsals, and dress rehearsals. 6

STAGE MANAGER 1. The Stage Manager acts as the communication liaison between the producers, director, designers, technicians, actors, and staff. 2. The Stage Manager is responsible for the creation and distribution of daily rehearsal reports to the company via e-mail immediately following the rehearsal. 3. The Stage Manager is responsible for the creation and distribution of daily tech. rehearsal reports throughout the tech/dress rehearsal period as well as the daily performance reports throughout the performance period via email immediately following tech/dress rehearsals and performances. 4. The Stage Manager is responsible for the creation, development, and maintenance of the Prompt Book; which is defined as the accurate playing text, staging, and stage business including choreography and score if applicable; in addition to all technical cues (lights, sound, multi-media, etc.), plots, daily records, shift changes, contact sheets, and any information or detail necessary for the artistic and technical operation of the production. 5. The Stage Manager is responsible for recording all blocking, of the show, throughout the rehearsal process. 6. The Stage Manager is responsible for giving line readings to the cast once they are off book. 7. The Stage Manager will keep track of the props needed for the production during the rehearsal process; in addition to keeping the Propmaster updated on the current prop list for the production. 8. The Stage Manager will assist the Propmaster in obtaining rehearsal props for the production. 9. The Stage Manager is responsible for the taping of the set unto the rehearsal floor. 10. The Stage Manager is responsible for the set-up and breakdown of the rehearsal space including sweeping, mopping, and the removal of trash to the appropriate area. 11. The Stage Manager is responsible for setting up costume fittings with the actors; in addition to informing the costume designer of the fitting schedule established. 12. The Stage Manager is responsible for establishing "call times" for cast members, tech. crew, and company. 13. The Stage Manager assumes active responsibility for the form and discipline of the rehearsal and performance process and acts as the executive instrument in the running of the rehearsals and performances. 7

14. The Stage Manager is responsible for the rehearsal and execution of all scenery shift changes with the Backstage Running Crew; including all furniture and set dressings if applicable. 15. The Stage Manager is responsible for the rehearsal and execution of all costume changes and/or quick changes with the Wardrobe Supervisor and/or Dresser if applicable. 16. The Stage Manager is responsible for the development of all the technical (lighting, sound, multi-media, etc.) cues in the prompt book including working with designers as to how to "call" each specific each specific call with specific timing. 17. The Stage Manager is responsible for calling the show during the tech/dress rehearsals and performance periods. 18. The Stage Manager acts as the executive instrument in the running of the performances including making all decisions concerning the performance with the collaboration of the Faculty/Staff advisor present during the performance. 19. The Stage Manager is responsible for maintaining, to the best of one's ability, the artistic integrity of the show as it was directed by taking cast and tech. notes thru each performance and distributing all notes to the appropriate individuals prior to the following performance. 20. The Stage Manager will inform the cast of specific minutes prior to places before the start of each performance. 21. The Stage Manager will inform the House Manager when the theater (house) can open for seating audience members. 22. The Stage Manager will procure from the House Manager the number of audience ticket stubs for each performance and include the audience attendance number in the performance report. 23. The Stage Manager is responsible for being knowledgeable of all Emergency Procedures. 24. The Stage Manager is responsible for securing the rehearsal space, theater, and stage area following each rehearsal, tech. rehearsal, dress rehearsal, and performance. 25. The Stage Manager is responsible for the removal of trash from the backstage area, dressing rooms, and green room during the performance period. The Stage Manager may delegate these duties to the Assistant Stage Manager, Backstage Running Crew and Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser. 26. The Stage Manager must attend all rehearsals, production meetings, tech/dress rehearsals, and performances. 8

ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER 1. The Assistant Stage Manager is responsible for assisting the Stage Manager in all duties and responsibilities that are needed to assure a professional, productive, proper, and positive rehearsal and performance period. 2. The Assistant Stage Manager assumes all duties and responsibilities of the Stage Manager in their absence. 3. The Assistant Stage Manager abides by the work schedule and call times set by the Stage Manager. 4. The Assistant Stage Manager is responsible for assisting the Stage Manager in the creation and distribution of daily tech. rehearsal reports throughout the tech/dress rehearsal period as well as the daily performance reports throughout the performance period via email immediately following tech/dress rehearsals and performances. 5. The Assistant Stage Manager is responsible for assisting the Stage Manager, as needed, in the creation, development, and maintenance of the Prompt Book; which is defined as the accurate playing text, staging, and stage business including choreography and score if applicable; in addition to all technical cues (lights, sound, multi-media, etc.), plots, daily records, shift changes, contact sheets, and any information or detail necessary for the artistic and technical operation of the production. 6. The Assistant Stage Manager is responsible for assisting the Stage Manager in setting up costume fittings with the actors; in addition to informing the costume designer of the fitting schedule established. 13. The Assistant Stage Manager is responsible for assisting the Stage Manager in the rehearsal and execution of all scenery shift changes with the Backstage Running Crew; including all furniture and set dressings if applicable. 14. The Assistant Stage Manager is responsible for assisting the Stage Manager in the rehearsal and execution of all costume changes and/or quick changes with the Wardrobe Supervisor and/or Dresser if applicable. 15. The Assistant Stage Manager will be stationed backstage and on headset during the run of the show. 16. The Assistant Stage Manager is the communication liaison between the backstage staff and actors and the control booth staff and front of house staff. 17. The Assistant Stage Manager is responsible for being knowledgeable of all Emergency Procedures. 18. The Assistant Stage Manager is responsible for assisting the Stage Manager in securing the rehearsal space, theater, and stage area following each rehearsal, tech. rehearsal, dress rehearsal, and performance. 19. The Assistant Stage Manager is responsible for assisting the Stage Manager in the removal of trash from the backstage area, dressing rooms, and green room during the performance period. The Stage Manager may delegate these duties specifically to the Assistant Stage Manager, Backstage Running Crew and Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser. 20. The Assistant Stage Manager must attend all rehearsals, production meetings, tech/dress rehearsals, and performances. 21. Dress Code for performances: "Blacks (black shirt, black pants, black socks and black shoes) 10

PROPMASTER 1. The Propmaster will perform their duties under the direction of the Director and Scenic Designer. 2. The Propmaster is responsible for supporting the scenic design. 3. The Propmaster is responsible for creating the prop designs for the production. 4. The Propmaster is responsible for being in constant contact with the Scenic Designer for the prop design specifics such as color, size, and material for all props. 5. The Propmaster is responsible for: a. Obtaining hand, set, dressing, and furniture props for the production. b. Designing and constructing props for the production. c. Purchasing props for the production. d. Maintaining all hand, set, dressing, and furniture props, including draperies for the production during the rehearsal and performance process. e. Supplying rehearsal props, as needed by Stage Management, during the rehearsal process. 6. The Propmaster is responsible for establishing the initial complete prop list (prop plot), and then conferring with the Director and/or Stage Manager frequently for any additions/deletions. 7. The Propmaster is responsible for renting, borrowing, pick-up, and return of props, as needed for the production. 8. The Propmaster is responsible for ordering and obtaining prop materials needed for the construction of props if applicable. 9. The Propmaster is responsible and accountable for the petty cash dispersed, and understands that all receipts must be turned in. 10. The Propmaster is responsible for setting up the prop tables backstage; including the creation of box areas on the table top with spike tape to designate the prop storage location on the table. 11. The Propmaster is required to attend all production meetings, technical rehearsals, and dress rehearsals. 11

WARDROBE SUPERVISOR DRESSER 1. In the event there is only one running crew person assigned to the costume area, that person shall act as Wardrobe Supervisor and Dresser. If there are two or more persons assigned to the costume area, the instructor of THTR 2980 will assign who will be the Wardrobe Supervisor. 2. The Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser will report, at their call time, to either the Stage Manager or Assistant Stage Manager during technical/dress rehearsals and performances. The Stage Manager will be responsible for giving call times. 3. The Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser will be under the direction of the Stage Manager, who will be their immediate supervisor, at all technical/dress rehearsal and performances. 4. The Dressers will be under the immediate direction of the Wardrobe Supervisor at all technical/dress rehearsals and performances. 5. The Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser is responsible for the control and repair of costumes during the technical/dress rehearsals and performances. 6. The Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser is responsible for the cleaning of the costumes by either using machine washing or the use of fabreze during the technical/dress rehearsals and performances. The Costume Designer will indicate which costume pieces will need machine washing after each performance. 7. The Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser is responsible for the ironing/steaming of costumes with the understanding that all ironing and steaming of costumes are completed to insure the integrity and proper look of the costumes. 8. The Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser is responsible for the creation of a Costume Repair List to be posted in each dressing room. If the repair of the costume is extreme, the Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser will inform the Stage Manager and contact the Costume Designer immediately. 9. The Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser is responsible for the initial set up of the Dressing Rooms and Quick Change Areas. 10. The Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser will assist actors in quick changes as needed. 11. The Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser ensures that the costumes retain their integrity and proper look, as originally designed by the Costume Designer, for each performance. 12. The Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser must attend all dress rehearsals and performances. 13. The Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser is responsible for being knowledgeable of all Emergency Procedures. 12

14. The Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser is responsible for keeping the costume shop and quick change areas clean and in order during the technical/dress rehearsals and performance period. 15. Dress Code for performances: "Blacks (black shirt and black pants) 13

LIGHT BOARD OPERATOR 1. The Light Board Operator will report, at their call time, to either the Stage Manager or Assistant Stage Manager during technical/dress rehearsals and performances. The Stage Manager will be responsible for giving call times. 2. The Light Board Operator will be under the direction of the Stage Manager, who will be their immediate supervisor, at all technical/dress rehearsal and performances. 3. The Light Board Operator is responsible for being knowledgeable and familiar in the use of the light board in either the Experimental Theatre or PAC (pending on the performance venue). 4. The Light Board Operator is responsible for the engagement and the termination of the lighting system (light board and dimmers) at all technical/dress rehearsals and performances. 8. The Light Board Operator is responsible for the dimmer check prior to each dress rehearsal and performance. 9. The Light Board Operator is responsible for being knowledgeable in changing lamps in the lighting instruments. 10. The Light Board Operator will wear a headset during the technical/dress rehearsals and performances; with the understanding that the Stage Manager shall call the lighting cues, through the headsets, throughout the technical/dress rehearsals and performances. 11. The Light Board Operator is responsible for being knowledgeable of all Emergency Procedures. 12. The Light Board Operator is responsible for keeping the control booth area clean and in order during the technical/dress rehearsals and performance period. 13. BACKSTAGE RUNNING CREW Gel Changer, Stagehand 1. The Backstage Running Crew will report, at their call time, to either the Stage Manager or Assistant Stage Manager during technical/dress rehearsals and performances. The Stage Manager will be responsible for giving call times. 2. The Backstage Running Crew will be under the direction of the Stage Manager, who will be their immediate supervisor, at all technical/dress rehearsal and performances. 3. If you are a Gel Changer: a. The Gel Changer is responsible for labeling the gel cuts and arranging them in order as determined by the Lighting Designer. b. The Gel Changer is responsible for being knowledgeable on the proper procedure for insertion and removal of gels into the various types of lighting instrument. c. The Gel Changer is responsible for the inserting and removing of gels into lighting instruments as called by the Stage Manager and/or Assistant Stage Manager. d. The Gel Changer is responsible for assisting the Lighting Designer in the execution of the lighting design during technical and dress rehearsals. 4. If you are a Stagehand: a. The Stagehand is responsible for setting up the scenery and stage prior to each technical/dress rehearsals and performances. b. The Stagehand is responsible for the changing of scenery and/or props onstage during the running of the show. c. The Stagehand is responsible for setting up the prop table during the technical/dress rehearsals and performances. d. The Stagehand is responsible for prepping any real food and/or drink props prior to show time. e. The Stagehand is responsible for any clean-up of any real food and/or drink, including washing of dishes, cups, etc., upon conclusion of each technical/dress rehearsal and performance. f. The Stagehand is responsible for assisting the Scenic Designer in the execution of the set design during technical and dress rehearsals. 16

g. The Stagehand is responsible for assisting the Propmaster in the execution of the props design during technical and dress rehearsals. 5. The Backstage Running Crew is responsible for keeping a clean and orderly backstage, offstage area, and onstage area, including sweeping, mopping, and the removal of trash to the appropriate areas during the technical/dress rehearsals and performances. 6. The Backstage Running Crew must attend all technical/dress rehearsals and performances. 7. The Backstage Running Crew is responsible for being knowledgeable of all Emergency Procedures. 8. HOUSE MANAGER 1. The House Manager will attend the Monday Dress Rehearsal, prior to the Wednesday opening, to collect money from the invited audience and act as an Usher for the performance. 2. The House Manager will supervise and oversee the ushers at all performances. 3. The House Manager will create and record a sign-in sheet for all ushers at each performance. The sign-in sheet are to be given to Faculty advisor after the final performance. 4. The House Manager is responsible for coordinating all communication between the Box Office and Stage Management. 5. The House Manager is responsible for making arrangements with the ARHU office for the delivery of programs to the theater prior to the opening night performance. 6. The House Manager will assist the ushers, if needed, in the stuffing of the programs for the performance. 7. The House Manager will prepare the house for audiences, with the ushers, prior to each performance by making sure all audience chairs are in order, all audience aisles are clean and clear, and any trash is disposed of in its proper container. 8. The House Manager will assist the ushers in taking tickets, handing out programs, questionnaires and pencils to the audience members. 9. The House Manager will assist the ushers in the seating of the audience members. 10. The House Manager will count the number of ticket stubs for each performance and report the number to the Stage Manager. 11. The House Manager is responsible for being knowledgeable of all Emergency Procedures. 12. The House Manager is responsible, along with the ushers, for keeping the lobby area clean and in order during the performance period. 13. The House Manager is responsible for securing the lobby area following each performance. 14. The House Manager is responsible for collecting the questionnaires and pencils from the ushers. 18

15. For Experimental Theatre productions, the House Manager will seat audience latecomers at the appropriate time as determined by the director. 16. For Experimental Theatre productions, the House Manager will give a curtain speech regarding exits, emergency procedures and audience protocol. 17. For Experimental Theatre productions, the House Manager is responsible for being knowledgeable in the proper use of the disability lift located on the staircase leading to the Experimental Theatre. 18. For PAC productions, the House Manager will work closely with the PAC House Manager on all matters. 19. The House Manager will report directly to the faculty advisor at dress rehearsals and all performances. 20. The House Manager must attend one rehearsal and all performances. 21. USHER 1. The Ushers will report, at their call time, to either the Experimental Theatre lobby or PAC lobby, pending on where the production is being presented, prior to each performance. 2. The Ushers will report to the House Manager who will be their immediate supervisor at all performances. 3. The Ushers will sign-in with the House Manager at every performance. Ushers must signin to receive credit for ushering. The House Manager give the sign-in sheet to the Faculty advisor after the final performance. 4. The Ushers will prepare the house for audiences, prior to each performance, by making sure all audience chairs are in order, all audience aisles are clean and clear, and any trash is disposed of in its proper container. 5. The Ushers will prepare the programs by stuffing them with the inserts provided by the House Manager. 6. The Ushers will take tickets as the audience enters the theater. 7. The Ushers will hand out programs to the audience members as they enter the theater. 8. The Ushers will hand out questionnaires and pencils to the audience as they enter the theater. 9. The Ushers will assist in the seating of the audience members. 10. The Ushers are responsible for being knowledgeable of all Emergency Procedures. 11. The Ushers are responsible for keeping the lobby area clean and in order during the performance period. 12. The Ushers will collect the questionnaires and pencils from the audience members at the end of each performance. Ushers will give the completed questionnaires and pencils to the House Manager. 13.
