COMMUNITY CONNECT FOR FEBRUARY! As part of the Forrest Centre Hospice Campaign Together We Care, the Wagga RSL Club has committed to donating $120,000 over the next three years. The campaign is aiming to raise a total of $5 million to build a 10-bed Palliative Care Hospice including single room accommodation, spaces for families to gather and consulting rooms for visiting doctors and other health professionals. The centre will be part of the Palliative Care Alliance which includes Murrumbidgee Local Health District, Calvary Hospital Riverina and Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network. This donation will assist in the redevelopment of the centre, providing respite and long-term end of life care to all residents within the region. THANK YOU WAGGA RSL SUB BRANCH For the first time Christmas day was celebrated at the RSL Sub Branch by 30 veterans and their family members. Unfortunately many of those who attended have suffered from traumatic stress disorder or have had family who have passed. This event was initiated by Peter Robinson and was extremely well received by all those who attended. It allowed past veterans and their families to enjoy an afternoon of chatter, nibbles and soft drinks in a supportive and friendly environment. A Cinema night has been organised for January 30 at 6.30pm to see the biographical war drama film Hacksaw Ridge and a welcome to Wagga for new defence families is being held on February 18 at Oasis Aquatic Centre from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
