Date Topic Writing Prompts November Persuasive Essay** Writing Prompt 1 Sometimes an issue affects you so strongly that you want to convince others to act in a certain way. Write a persuasive essay on an issue that is important to you. Choose an issue from Unit 1 that you feel strongly about. Write a persuasive essay that explains the issue and mentions the literary work in which you found it. Writing in the Workplace Write a memo to an employer proposing that you be given more responsibilities, such as becoming the head of a new branch or department Writing About History Choose an event in world history that interests you. Write an essay persuading readers to share your opinion about the event. For example, did the event advance or restrict freedom? Did the people involved act justly or unjustly? December Reflective Essay** Writing Prompt 1 Writing from Your Life Write an essay in which you reflect on an experience that taught you an important lesson. Include details that help your readers understand the people and events you are writing about. Explain how the experience changed you. Choose a quotation from a literary work in this unit. Write a reflective essay that relates the quotation to an event in your life. Your essay should tell why the event matters to you and explain whether you agree or disagree with the author. Recall an action you took at school, at a job, or in a community activity that made a difference, either positive or negative. Reflect on what you did and why it had the impact it had. In an art book or online source, find a work of art that moves you. Study the art and identify aspects of it that move you and why. Write your reflections.

Unit 3 Biographical Narrative Writing Prompt 1 Writing from Your Life Write a biographical narrative about a person who you believe is important or influential.
