It consists essentially of three components: A network computer connected to the TV and enclosed in a discrete box (Set Back Box); A central unit, consisting of a group of servers that communicate with the computer network and distribute paid services; And finally a supervisory system that allows the platform to manage, monitor and provide assistance remotely. The distribution of TV channels via Internet Protocol (IP TV); in High Definition (HD); and with a built-in Personal Video Recorder (PVR), are only three features that mark out its excellence in this class of product. TV through IP (Internet Protocol) is a very efficient technology platform for distributing TV content in digital format. The signal arrives in hotel rooms through a network of Cat5e, telephone, or room co-axial cabling and so avoids the typical problems found with analogue coaxial cable (disturbances, interference, snow effect ). IP-TV allows considerably more channels than previously available from traditional analogue systems. It also supports subtitles, the multi-lingual options for films, electronic TV guides and personal video recorders (PVR). The PVR feature allows guests to record television programmes when away from the room.
