Tutoral ntroducton Ths tutoral leads you through the best practces of color ways operatons usng an llustrated step by step approach. If applcable, t s recommended that the frst color way be whte. Ths makes t easer to create new color ways based on t, quckly & easly by assgnng an overlay of color. (See steps C-G) A. Havng a frst Completed color way A new garment s created wth a default color way. The best way to start creatng addtonal color ways, s to have the frst (exstng) color way fully completed wth all the detals such as fabrcs, seam textures and attachments. As wll be demonstrated next, ths color way can then be duplcated and appled wth new colors, thus savng the need to defne and assgn agan new fabrcs and textures 3
3 5 4 1 B. Renamng the default color way 1.The color way lst appears at the rght of the man tool bar wth the current color way dsplayed. In Fabrc Center select ColorWays A garment may nclude as many dfferent color ways as needed 3. Select Rename. The Rename ColorWay. dalog box opens 4. In the New Name box enter Whte 5. Press OK. The color way s renamed 4
1 C. Clonng the Basc color way 1. In Fabrc Center select ColorWays. Select Clone 3 4 3. A message appears askng do you want to set an overlay 00 of color to the new color way 4. Press Yes. The Choose color way Color Dalog box appears 5
D. Selectng a color overlay 1 1. In the Choose color way Color Dalog box, select a blue color. Press the OK button Note: Custom colors or lbrary colors may be used as needed check the Onlne Help! A new color way s created automatcally named Whte-New. The selected color s appled to all fabrcs, seams & attachments 6
1 4 3 E. Renamng the new color way 1. In Fabrc Center select ColorWays. Select Rename. The Rename ColorWay. dalog box opens 3. In the New Name box enter Blue 4. Press the OK button. The color way s renamed 7
1 F. Smulatng the New color way 1. Make sure the new color way s current, by selectng t n the lst. Press the Dress button. The new color way s smulated on the avatar Note: It s best to fne-tune the new color way detals whle vewng the changes n 3D The new color way s now ready to be fne tuned n detal 8
3 Repeat for other seams or attachments In the same manner Repeat steps C - G for addtonal color ways as much as needed G. Adjustng the seams color 1. Swtch to the Seam mage cons. Select the Bndng con on the bank bar 4 5 3. In Texture center select Effects > Basc Color. The color palette opens 4. Select a darker blue swatch. The effect appears mmedately n 3D 5. Adjust the lghtness/darkness wth the slder 1 6. Press the Ok button. The effect s appled also n D 9
3 1 Note: The fabrc mages may be replaced altogether, as opposed to just usng a color overlay H. Changng the fabrc mage 1. Make sure the new color way s smulated. (See Step F) 4. On the 3D tool bar press the Wndows explorer con. Wndows Explorer opens 3. Browse for the fabrc mages folder and select an mage 4. drag t onto the smulated garment. Drop t over the fabrc area. The fabrc mage s replaced both n 3 an D 10
1 I. Changng the bndng mage You may also replace edge texture n the same way 1. Browse for the seam mages folder and select an mage. drag t onto the smulated garment. Drop t over the seam area. The bndng mage s replaced both n 3 and D 11
1 The color way swatch, may be represented by a color from the palette or a specal Ths step mage shows how to use a Palette color 5 J. Settng the color ways swatches In Fabrc Center Select ColorWays > Set Image. The ColorWay mage / Color dalog box opens 4a When selectng automatc color overlay (See Step D) the color way swatch s also set to the same color automatcally 4b 3a. Under Catalog Crtera select Pallet and clck the button. The Color palette opens 3. Select the desred color and press the OK button. The color s appled 4. Under Dsplay select pallet. And press the OK button 3b 5. Swtch to the whte color way and repeat the process usng a whte swatch 1
K. Vewng the color ways swatches 1. Make sure the garment s smulated you can swtch color ways drectly n the 3D wndow, by selectng the desred swatch (See 3 ) 3. On the 3D wndow menu select Current Outft > [Garment Name] > change color. The color way swatches show. Ths s the same way they wll also appear n other places 3. Select the desred swatch. The color way s swtched accordngly 1 13
L. Specal color ways swatches Instead of usng flat colors for color way swathes (as descrbed n Step J) dedcated mages can be created. These mages represent the color ways better by usng actual motfs and trms from the garment. See examples on ths page To create specal color way swatches 14
M. Creatng specal color ways swatches 1. In Photoshop (or smlar) create a new fle 40 by 0 pxels n sze. Resze your fabrc mage so t fts the new format and crop t for a good representaton of the garment 4. Optonally, add other elements such as bndngs or color areas. Arrange the dfferent elements on the new format n the best way 3. Copy & paste your fabrc mage nto the new 40 by 0 pxels mage 5. Save the mage n JPEG format To set specal color way swatches n the garment 15
1 If the color way mage s larger than 40 by 0 pxels, t wll be automatcally cropped. 4 a 3 N. Settng specal color ways swatches 1. In Fabrc Center Select ColorWays > Set Image. The ColorWay mage / Color dalog box opens. Under Dsplay select Image and press the Browse button 3. Browse and select the mage you prepared and press the Open button. 3a 4. Press the OK button. The mage s set. Repeat the process for all color ways 16
