7. ADVANCED OPERATION General Calibratin Precautins 1. T verify accuracy r t calibrate yur instrument, hang a sample length f material vertically, and suspend knwn weight(s) frm the ppsite end. (See Figure 9.) 2. When perfrming this test, use a micrmeter t measure yur material diameter and verify it is dimensinally within tlerance and nt ut f rund. 3. Only use free-hanging weights which are traceable t Natinal Standards. 4. Never use any tensining device that attempts t cnvert rtatinal trque values int tensin lads, as these types f systems are highly inaccurate. Als, any lad cell system must be rutinely checked fr accuracy using traceable weights, as these types f systems are als highly inaccurate and generally d nt meet minimum repeatable accuracy standards. Check Accuracy 1. T check the accuracy f yur meter, first hang the test material and suspend weights frm it as described in General Calibratin Precautins abve. 2. Select frm yur meter s menu the material type and material diameter crrespnding t yur test material. 3. Befre engaging the instrument nt the material, zer the instrument by hlding it in the same attitude yu ll be taking the readings, and pressing the Enter r Zer buttn. This will eliminate any small tare effects. 4. Take readings alng the material. FOR BEST RESULTS ALWAYS TAKE SEVERAL READINGS OF THE MATERIAL TENSION BY DISENGAGING AND THEN RE- ENGAGING THE INSTRUMENT ON THE MATERIAL. 5. If the meter is accurately calibrated, readings will fall within 1% f the fullscale capability f the instrument: TX-125-1: +/- 1.3 grams TX-1000-1: +/- 10 grams TX-5000-1: +/- 50 grams If yu have additinal questins, please cntact Tensitrn fr assistance.
