2/8 PEM1124ENG 2010-05 GENERAL INFORMATION - Check that the kit is suitable for the cable type. - Check the materials listed in the bill of materials for completeness. - Read the installation instructions carefully before starting the installation. - Install carefully and make sure the materials are clean during the installation. - Clean the working place after the installation. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR HEAT SHRINKING - Please note that in some working places a hot work permit is needed. - Use a propane burner with a flame length of approx. 20-30 cm. Do not use too large or sharp flame. - Move the flame all around the cable on the shrinking direction. Move the flame continuously to avoid overheating. - Make sure that the ventilation is good and there are no flammable materials around. - Clean the cable surfaces before shrinking. - When shrinking, always follow the installation instructions and the relevant sequence to avoid trapped air. - Check that the tube has shrunk evenly around the cable before you continue shrinking. - If the tube turns around at the end of shrinking, straighten the tube by directing the flame inside the tube from the opposite direction. - After shrinking the tubes should be smooth and even following the shape inside. LEGAL NOTICE - The product must be installed only by a competent person with sufficient training in installation practices and with sufficient knowledge of good safety and installation practices in respect of electrical equipment. If local legislation contains provisions in respect of such training or sufficient knowledge in respect of installation of electrical equipment such provisions shall be fulfilled by the said person. - Ensto accepts no liability concerning claims resulting from misuse, incorrect installation or ignored national safety regulations or other national provisions. - WARNING: Failure to follow the installation instructions may result in damage to the product and serious or fatal injury.

Peel the cable outer sheath (Note max A). Roughen and clean the cable outer sheath for 150 mm length and clean the cores for the whole length. Cut the long black heat shrink tube to 3 equal length pieces (dimension A) and draw them and the green-yellow one over the cable conductors. Shrink the tubes starting from the crutch. Place the breakout as deep into the crutch as possible. Start shrinking it from the middle, continue then to the lower part of breakout and finally shrink the fingers. 2. Peel the insulation for X + 10 mm (according to picture). Brush the Al-conductors with brush or grinding paper and install the cable lugs according to manufacturers instructions. (Use always the tinned extra sleeves in the lug, if the cable fits in the sleeve). 3. Shrink the heat shrink tubes with adhesive, over the cable lugs and cores. The termination is now ready. Let the termination to cool down before applying any mechanical load.

Notice! Before cutting the cable, dimension the cutting so that Cu-wires of the concentric conductor are long enough. Remove the cable outer sheath. Roughen and clean the cable outer sheath for 150 mm length, and clean the cores for the whole length. Cut the long heat shrink tubes (black) to 3 equal length pieces (dimension A) and draw them over the cable conductors. Shrink the tubes starting from the crutch. 2. Wrap two layers of sealing mastic onto the cable outer sheath from the crutch to 40 mm over the outer sheath. Bend Cu-wires on the cable outer sheath (sealing mastic). Place the breakout over the mastic. Start shrinking it from the middle, continue then to the lower part of breakout and finally shrink the fingers. Twist Cu-wires of the concentric conductor. Shrink the thin wall heat shrink tube (green / yellow) over them. 3. Peel the insulation for X + 10 mm (according to picture). Brush the Al-conductors with brush or grinding paper and install the cable lugs according to manufacturers instructions. (Use always the tinned extra sleeves in the lug, if the cable fits in the sleeve). 4. Shrink the heat shrink tubes with adhesive, over the cable lugs and the cores according to the picture. The temination is now ready. Let the termination to cool down before applying any mechanical load.
PEM1124ENG 2010-05 5/8 ARMOURED CABLES outer sealing tube A + 30 1. Place the outer tube on the cable. Peel the cable outer sheath for the length of dimension A+30 mm. Roughen the armour for 40 mm with grinding paper or steel brush and clean it. 30 2. Remove the armour up to 30 mm from the outer sheath. Roughen the outer jacket for 150 mm. 40 3. Wrap two layers of sealing mastic 40 mm over the outer sheath according to the picture. Fix the tinned copper braid with constant force spring to the armour so that the tinned part is over the mastic. Tie also the braid against the cable outer sheath with 2-4 rounds of Cu -wire. Protect it with PVC -tape. Constant force spring: Turn first one turn of constant force spring on the copper braid. Fold then the tail of the braid over the constant force spring and finish the tightening of the spring. Tighten the spring by hand and wrap some pvc -tape over it to keep it tight. Sealing mastic 40 4. Wrap two layers of sealing mastic from the crutch to 40 mm over the outer jacket.
6/8 PEM1124ENG 2010-05 outer sealing tube 5. Place the outer sealing tube over the mastic so that it starts from the crutch. Shrink it starting from the middle. X Heat shrink breakout 6. Push the breakout into the crutch as far as possible. Shrink the breakout starting from the middle, continuing to the bottom and finally to the fingers. Remove the insulation of the conductors for the depth of the lugs hole + 10 mm. Heat shrink tube with adhesive Cable lug 7. Brush and clean the bare conductors. Place the cable lugs to conductors. If the conductor size is smaller than the minimum accepted conductor size for lug, use the filler pieces included in the kit inside of the lug (70 mm²). Tigten the cable lugs according to manufacturers instructions. Shrink the short tubes over the lugs. 8. The termination is now ready. Let the termination to cool down before applying any mechanical load.
