Merlin of Camelot, played by Paul McManus, sharing the magic of live theater October 2005 Sponsored by:

Sharing the Magic of Live Theatre Welcome to The Acting Company! We are your non-profit community theatre in Yuba City, California. About 25 years ago a group of local artists joined to form Theatre 86 with the goal of finding a theater building by 1986. They produced plays throughout the community to raise the funds needed and although they didn t find a building by 1986, they did eventually secure our current location at 815 B Street in Yuba City in 1992. The group officially changed their name to The Acting Company and for the past 15 years we have been sharing the magic of live theater with the Yuba-Sutter community in our own little home. In 2003, we finally paid off our building and took on a $250,000 renovation. In 2004, we were once again out on the street performing plays throughout the community while our theater was being worked on and we reopened in 2005. In 2006 we hired a Theater Manager! The Acting Company has operated on 100% volunteer work since its inception and finally, last year, we took a huge leap forward by bringing on someone to manage our home away from home. John Elliott manages our Box Office Hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 12 2 p.m. And he can help you with any question you might have. Our goal in 2007 is to offer a season of children s theater performances for young audiences. We will continue to offer workshops for young actors and now we will also feature performances on Saturdays that will delight audiences ages 4-10. In the past decade we have been nominated for dozens of Elly awards by the Sacramento Area Regional Theater Alliance and we have won 10 of the prestigious theatre awards including two of the most prestigious awards this past year! Michael Campbell and Staci Johnson were selected Best Leading Actor and Best Leading Actress for our 2006 production of I Love You, You re Perfect, Now Change! The Acting Company shares the magic of live theatre by supporting its community with entertainment at local events, donating performances to local non-profits, children s theater, acting workshops, the rental of period costumes and set pieces, and offering 6 full scale productions each season. The magic of theatre doesn t happen without the support of our patrons and local businesses. Thanks to you we can continue to produce quality performing arts and offer opportunities that bolster teamwork, imagination, confidence, and artistic talent. You will find several ways to get more involved in our little theatre by reading this brochure. Feel free to contact us at anytime! Sincerely, Debbie Collier, President The Acting Company PG. - THE ACTING COMPANY 2007 SEASON BROCHURE VISIT US ONLINE AT: WWW.ACTINGCOMPANY.ORG

Auditions The Acting Company is always looking for new actors and new volunteers. We encourage anyone and everyone to join us at our open auditions-no experience necessary! At most auditions you are simply asked to read a short scene from the play and you will be given several chances to read the scene again with other actors playing the other parts in the scene. When we re auditioning for a musical the director will ask you to sing a short portion of a song if you want to be considered for a singing role. Our auditions are very casual and we will do everything we can to make you feel welcome and comfortable. Please join us and become part of the magic of live theater. To learn more visit the website or call the theater at 530.751.1100 Website Everything you need to know about The Acting Company is on our website at www.actingcompany.org. Need to rent costumes, rent the theater, rent an actor as entertainment for your function? or maybe you want to sign up for children s theater, find out about upcoming auditions or browse through photos from all the performances The Acting Company has ever produced. Go on-line and get all the info you ever needed and more. You can also purchase tickets to any of our performances and you can contact us via e-mail on our website. Volunteers from The Acting Company participate in dozens of local events including Superhero Night at Gold Sox baseball. This show was written by the same authors of I Love You, You re Perfect, Now Change. So for those of you who saw our 2006 production, you know what kind of gut-wrenching laughter you re in for!
