g GE Interlogix Fiber Options INSTRUCTION MANUAL MODEL S700VT-MST MINIATURE VIDEO TRANSMITTER GENERAL This manual is a guide to the installation and operation of the S700VT-MST fiber optic video transmitter. Please read the entire manual before installing the equipment. NOTE: The series numbers S700VR is used the describe all receiver models unless noted otherwise. The S700VT-MST video transmitters system transmit one video signal one from a camera to a monitoring station over one multimode fiber. The S700VT-MST can be used with the S700VR or S702VR series receivers. A complete system consists of one transmitter and one receivers. Unpacking the Unit In the event that anything is missing from the following list, contact your authorized Fiber Options dealer or representative. S700VT-MST Transmitter Instruction manual Save the original packing materials in case it becomes necessary to return the unit. FIGURE 1: BASIC SYSTEM DIAGRAM Video In S700VT-MST one optical fiber S700VR Video Out FEATURES The S700VT-MST transmitter housing is extremely small measuring 1.5 in. (38 mm) by 1.04 (26 mm) by 24 mm (0.94 in). An ST optical connector is fixed to one end, while a coaxial cable with BNC connector and a removable 2-pin screw-terminal power connector are attached at the opposite end. The S700VT-MST transmitter can be used with any of the following receivers: S700VR-EST, S700VR-RST, S702VR-RST. The S702VR-RST supports two transmitters. All the receivers feature a diagnostic LEVEL/LOSS TM LED to indicate the presence of valid fiber signal. (S702V cards have two such LEDs). Refer to TROUBLESHOOTING for more information. Rackmount receivers are designed to be mounted in a standard 19- inch card cage (515R1 or 517R1). Electrical power input is derived from the card cage. INSTALLATION The S700VT-MST transmitter is intended to be located on or near a CCTV camera. If the camera is mounted outdoors, the S700VT-MST must be mounted inside the camera housing. Make sure there is sufficient space for making the various cable, electrical, and fiber connections. Velcro TM fastener tape is provided for mounting the S700VT- MST to any smooth, flat surface. See Figure 2 for unit dimensions. 1. Adhere the fastener tape to the transmitter by removing the protective backing from the gummed tape. Firmly press the tape to the unit. 2. Fasten the other piece of Velcro to the selected surface in the same way. The S700VT-MST can now be mounted to the surface by attaching the two pieces of fastener tape to each other. CONNECTIONS All fiber-optic links convert electrical signals into a light source at the transmitter and convert the light back to electrical signals for output at the receiver. CAUTION: Make sure all peripheral equipment that will be connected to the fiber unit is turned OFF during installation. Video Cable Connection Connect the video equipment, such as a camera, to the S700VT-MST transmitter using the attached coaxial cable. Fiber Optic Cable Connection The standard optical connector on S700VT-MST units is the ST type. Connect the pre-terminated fiber to the two fiber units. Power Connections A removable 2-pin screw-terminal connector is provided for the electrical connection. 1. Make sure the power supply is not connected to any power source and attach the leads from the power supply to the appropriate terminals as follows: Pin 1: +13.5 VDC (DC+) or 12-14 VAC Pin 2: Ground (DC-) or 12-14 VAC 2. Plug the power supply into a suitable outlet. Once the S700VT-MST has been installed and the other end of the fiber connected to a suitable receiver, power up the peripheral equipment. TROUBLESHOOTING Operation of a system including an S700VT-MST transmitter can be monitored with the LEVEL/LOSS TM LED on the S700VR or S702VR receivers. When green, LEVEL/LOSS indicates the presence of sufficient optical and video signals being received from the transmitter. If unlit, check fiber and all connections and splices. Also check that the transmitter is connected to an operating video source, is on, and is connected to the receiver via the fiber.
